Before its official release, Avatar: Fire and Ash was shown not just to test audiences but also to James Cameron’s wife. The director shared her emotional reaction in a recent interview with Empire.
According to Cameron, his wife, Suzy, saw the film back in December, and it moved her so deeply that she was in tears for hours.
My wife watched the whole thing from end to end — she had kept herself away from it and I wasn’t showing her bits and pieces as we went along. This was December 22nd. She bawled for four hours. She kept trying to get her shit back together so she could tell me specific reactions, and then she’d just tear up and start crying again. Finally, I’m like, ‘Honey, I’ve got to go to bed. Sorry, we’ll talk about it some other time’.
Will Titanic, often considered Cameron’s most emotional film, be dethroned by the third Avatar? We’ll find out soon enough—Fire and Ash premieres on December 19, 2025.
