Ubisoft Accused of Secretly Meeting with EA and Microsoft Over IP Acquisition Deal

Ubisoft is likely looking to bigger partners in an attempt to get out of its crisis. A minority shareholder recently accused the company of trying to secretly negotiate with Electronic Arts and Microsoft to sell its IP.
The CEO of AJ Investments said that Ubisoft is “horribly mismanaged by current management,” which has yet to provide a clear roadmap for resolving its financial problems. He also cited a classified article on investment platform MergerMarket that revealed talks between Microsoft, EA, and other companies that would like to acquire Ubisoft’s IP.
IGN reached out to Ubisoft for comment on the allegations. The company responded that it continues to consider various strategic and capital options for its transformation and will update the market.
Meanwhile, the head of AJ Investments called on other investors to join him in protesting Ubisoft in May. The minority shareholder also intends to sue the company for misrepresentation.
Recall that last year Ubisoft held talks with China's Tencent about a possible buyout. According to rumors, the company is also ready to release DLC for Assassin's Creed Mirage in exchange for investment from Savvy Games Group.
