Whispering Obols in Diablo 4: How to Farm and What They Are Used For

Diablo 4 is the next installment in Blizzard's legendary game series. The project turned out great, and it can captivate you for several dozen hours. However, some gameplay elements may be unclear to newcomers. In this guide, we will tell you everything you need to know about whispering obols in the new «Diablo».

Whispering obols are a special type of currency in the game, needed for access to legendary weapons and armor, as well as for opening the most valuable chests. They are acquired from Curiosity Vendors. Essentially, obols are analogous to blood shards from Diablo 3.

Except for whispering keys, which we will discuss below, you do not have the option to buy a specific item from a Curiosity Vendor. Instead, you choose a type of gear (gloves, tunic, shield) and participate in a kind of lottery. After exchanging the specified number of obols, you will receive an item of random rarity. Among them, there are legendary armor and weapons. It may take several attempts to get what you need. Unwanted gear sets can be dismantled to obtain gold and materials.

Additionally, you can buy a whispering key from Curiosity Vendors for 20 obols. With these, you can open silent chests.

Note that the number of obols you can have is strictly limited. Initially, the limit is 500, but it can be increased by completing renown tasks and praying to the statues of the demoness Lilith.
