How to Find All Strange Photos in Silent Hill 2 Remake

In Silent Hill 2, you can find 26 strange Polaroid photos — one of the collectibles in the game. To find each photo in Silent Hill 2 and get the Pieces Unarranged achievement, you will need to go through each chapter. Since some of the photos can be accidentally missed, it's better to use this guide and collect them in the order they appear in the game.

Some strange photos are hard to find as they are hidden behind broken glass, in hard-to-reach rooms, or inside boxes. Players will need to be resourceful to find them all, looking in unexpected places throughout their journey in Silent Hill.

Each of the 26 strange photos is a mysterious image with handwritten text below it. There is also a number on the back. Their locations are not marked on the map, but they can be tracked in the inventory.

Coming across the first few photos, you might think they are part of a larger puzzle or unlock some content, and the numbers on the back might be a solution for a lock. Unfortunately, this is not the case. The numbers show which of the 26 photos you have found. This allows you to keep track of the missing photos.

As for the images and text on the front, some are closely related to the main story of Silent Hill 2, while others show nothing specific. Players are left to guess their origin, but there are hints that they document someone's experience of exploring the town of Silent Hill and its dark history.

Strange Photo #1 — I've Been Happy

Find the intersection of Sanders and Neely streets. Opposite Neely's Bar, you can find the Silent Hill Fresh Meats shop. Just break the glass and pick up the first strange photo.

Strange Photo #2 — So Many People Here!

On Katz Street, right next to the Wood Side Apartments, you can find the second strange photo near a pile of trash and some wooden boards.

Strange Photo #3 — Valentine's Day

When you get to room 102, you can get the third strange photo, which will be lying on a tray next to the TV.

Strange Photo #4 — Career's Humble Beginnings

Finding the gun is important for progressing through this location. Eventually, you will reach room 212, where you can use the balcony to go to room 210. Inside room 210, on the ledge of a window taped shut, is the fourth strange photo.

Strange Photo #5 — Forever Together

After the cutscene with Angela and obtaining the Key of Resilience, you will be able to unlock the southern corridor on 1F. Go through room 101 and down the stairs. On the right will be the fifth strange photo.

Strange Photo #6 — How the Time Flies

After completing the clock puzzle in room 212, the location will change, and you will be able to go to the side room to find the sixth strange photo on the floor to the right.

Strange Photo #7 — So Far from Home

After meeting Maria, head to Rosewater Park, where the seventh strange photo is located. It lies on a bench to the left of the map.

Strange Photo #8 — Made It!

Walk down the road and look to the left to find the Octanis Fuels gas station. Behind this building is a car you can interact with to obtain the garage jack lever. Take this key item to the building opposite and use it to lift the garage door. Inside, on a red toolbox, will be the eighth strange photo.

Strange Photo #9 — Ready to Kill It!

After James and Maria enter the adult bar Heavens Night, the ninth strange photo can be found in the dressing room near the mirror wall.

Strange Photo #10 — Church Entrance

After the cutscene with Maria and James in Moonlight Grove, turn around and go through the south side to find the tenth strange photo placed on the fountain next to the bench.

Strange Photo #11 — Best Flavor!

After the cutscene with Eddie in the Reverie theater, players will need to inspect the cinema hall where the eleventh strange photo will be on a chair.

Strange Photo #12 — Her Drawings

On the second floor of the hospital, there is a Nurses Station. You need to enter the far right corner and use the crawlspace, which will lead to room L3, leading to the observation room. Inside the observation room, on the white table, will be the twelfth strange photo.

Strange Photo #13 — At Least She Was There

After entering the doctor's office and obtaining the note with the combination, you can head to the first floor of Brookhaven Hospital 1F, where the examination room 1 will be open. Inside, you can open the blue box to take the thirteenth strange photo.

Strange Photo #14 — No One Knows

Enter the otherworld version of Brookhaven Hospital and go up to the 2nd floor. Go to the observation room to find the fourteenth strange photo inside the drawer of the bedside table in C5.

Strange Photo #15 — They Mustn't Know

After meeting Maria in the otherworld version of Brookhaven Hospital, head to the pool area on the 1st floor, and in the upper left corner (if looking at the map), you will see the fifteenth strange photo next to the lifebuoy.

Strange Photo #16 — They're Here

After escaping from Pyramid Head, you will find yourself in the otherworld. You need to run through this area until you reach the eastern side. After this, head to the Lucky Jade restaurant on Katz Street. Now go to the parked car, break the driver's side window, and take the sixteenth photo.

Strange Photo #17 — The New Clock

On the first floor of the Historical Society, you need to stick to the left room to find a glass case. Break the display to take the seventeenth strange photo.

Strange Photo #18 — Four Months to Go

After accessing the Serpent hall using the Death Row card, you will need to solve the generator puzzle in the witness room, which will unlock all the cells. You need to get to cell E1 and break the wall to access more E cells. Go to E13, where the eighteenth strange photo is on the shelf.

Strange Photo #19 — Old Man's Always Prepared

Get to the Eyeless Boar door through the scales and weights puzzle, then move left to the warehouse section. The nineteenth photo is on the table.

Strange Photo #20 — Whole World Ahead of Us

Enter the abandoned area using the rotating cube. Move to the flooded level where Pyramid Head will be. The room is a hexagon, and you need to run to the right side of the room to climb the stairs (marked on the map as VI). At the top of the stairs in the next room, the twentieth strange photo is on the table covered with a white cloth.

Strange Photo #21 — Your Best Buddy

Return to the labyrinth to use the rotating cube. Choose the face with scratched symbols on the left and right. Enter and go down the stairs to take the twenty-first strange photo.

Strange Photo #22 — Road Trip!

After the boss fight with Eddie, players will need to exit the building and stick to the right side. Pick up the twenty-second strange photo by the wall next to the stairs.

Strange Photo #23 — Aftermath…

The twenty-third strange photo is in the drawer of the bedside table in room 104 on the first floor of the Lakeview Hotel.

Strange Photo #24 — Better Leave…

Find the key and go from the staff room to the Venus Tears Bar. Inside, go down to the basement and pick up the twenty-fourth strange photo from the bar shelf with various alcohol bottles.

Strange Photo #25 — Still Can't Get It Right

After watching the cutscene featuring James and Laura, head to room 302 at the end of the corridor. You need to move the metal cart out of the way to enter the bathroom door it was blocking. Inside the sink is the twenty-fifth strange photo.

Strange Photo #26 — Shape Forces the Mind

The last strange photo can be found after the boss fight with 2 Pyramid Heads and exiting the long corridor. Turn right and follow the path to find the twenty-sixth strange photo on the floor.
