Preorders Open for Laptops with AMD 9955HX3D and RTX 5090

Next-gen gaming laptops powered by AMD’s Fire Range processors on Zen 5 architecture and NVIDIA’s RTX 50 series GPUs are now available for preorder in Europe. Despite AMD’s announcement that sales would begin in the first half of 2025 and NVIDIA’s plans to start GPU shipments in March, high-end configurations with cutting-edge cooling systems are already up for reservation.
The flagship lineup includes models with 16-core Ryzen 9 9955HX and 9955HX3D processors, the latter boasting 144MB of cache thanks to 3D V-Cache technology. This promises significant performance gains in gaming and demanding workloads. NVIDIA’s partnership allows these CPUs to be paired with RTX 5070 Ti, 5080, and 5090 GPUs, with TGP ratings exceeding standard levels— for instance, the RTX 5090 operates at 175W instead of 150W, potentially boosting FPS by 10-15%.
Entry-level configurations offer just 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD, which may be a bottleneck for modern games. The laptops feature displays with refresh rates of up to 300Hz and 500-nit brightness but lack Thunderbolt 4, instead relying on 10Gbps USB-C. Pricing starts at €2,526 ($2,627) for a system with the Ryzen 9 9955HX3D and RTX 5070 Ti, while the top-tier RTX 5090 variant is priced at €3,860 ($4,014).
Despite preorders being open, exact shipping dates remain unclear, posing a risk for those hoping to get their hands on a device in time for the RTX 50 launch in March. However, for enthusiasts eager to invest in "hardware of the future" now, these laptops could be a game-changer in 2025, especially with the power of Zen 5 and 3D V-Cache.
