Enthusiast Tuned PhysX Compatibility with RTX 5090 Using RTX 3050, Improved Gaming Performance

Just the other day, NVIDIA announced that it had ended support for 32-bit CUDA applications in its RTX 50 series graphics cards. The decision automatically led to the loss of compatibility between new video cards and PhysX technology, but craftsmen quickly solved the problem.

Recall that the PhysX engine from NVIDIA was responsible for physics in games such as processing ragdoll models, fabric simulation or real-time particle movement, but over the years it began to be supplanted by other solutions. Despite this, older video cards using this technology are capable of giving a head start to the latest flagships in 32-bit games.

For this reason, a Reddit user with the nickname jerubedo decided to restore compatibility PhysX with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 using workarounds in order to comfortably play old projects. He purchased an RTX 3050 for a pair of the video card and transferred PhysX calculations to it using the NVIDIA Control Panel. As a result, he managed to achieve impressive improvements using the RTX 5090 and RTX 3050 simultaneously: Mafia 2 Classic showed 157 FPS versus 29, Batman: Arkham Asylum 390 FPS instead of 61, and Borderlands 2 — 122 FPS.

Recently, the RTX 5090 was tried to be combined with a portable console. The resulting hybrid was able to deliver more than 100 FPS in demanding games.
