Space Engineers 2, a Cosmic Sandbox with a Massive Open World, Released on Steam

Space Engineers 2 has launched in Steam's Early Access, billed as an "absolute" cosmic sandbox offering "infinite possibilities for creativity and discovery." The new game has garnered 80% positive reviews, though players note that it currently functions more like a tech demo with minimal mechanics.

The current version includes a creative mode where players can build their first space structures and experience the new engine and physics. Developers have warned that this is only an alpha build and advised not to expect too much from it yet.

The studio has also released a roadmap detailing upcoming updates. Future enhancements will include mod support, the ability to explore planets, multiplayer capabilities, a story campaign, and much more.
