Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines 2 Delayed Again, Despite Being Ready

The release of Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines 2 has been postponed once more. This time, the game is promised for an October launch, although the developers initially aimed for a release in the first half of this year.

Executive Producer Marco Behrmann stated that Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines 2 is already complete, but the developers need more time to fix all the bugs and enhance stability and performance.

Additionally, PC Gamer published a preview based on several hours of gameplay.

Here's a brief overview from the author:

  • Character: Phyre (Nomad) — a 400-year-old vampire who has slept for a century following a sudden disappearance;
  • Setting: Seattle is in ruins, ruled by the Camarilla, with political tension and an Anarch uprising;
  • Main Objective: Unravel why the protagonist slept for so long, who weakened them, and why another vampire is in their mind;
  • Dialogues are dangerous, influenced by past experiences as well as conversations. The dialogue system is reminiscent of Telltale games;
  • Reputation depends on relationships with each character;
  • "Blood Resonance" system — different abilities based on the victim's emotions;
  • The open world of Seattle isn't entirely "alive" but features immersive sim elements;
  • A system of magical abilities with blood costs;
  • Flexible combinations of powers and manipulations, including enemy control and telekinesis;
  • Vampire enemies are stronger than humans and ghouls;
  • Combat style is reminiscent of Dishonored;
  • The vampire feeding system is quite important. If the protagonist is caught feeding or displaying their vampiric nature, they become a target for both vampire hunters and other vampires, adding extra challenges;
  • The game offers numerous variations in the combat system. For example, players can use abilities from different vampire clans to combine them into destructive combos, such as controlling enemies and activating powerful attacks;
  • The hero faces political intrigue among vampires divided into factions. The Camarilla (traditionalist group) and Anarchs (rebels) are two key factions to interact with, and the player's actions determine who gains control over the city;
  • There's a mini-game with "blood resonance." The blood of different people has different characteristics (e.g., anger, sadness, or excitement), affecting the powers the character gains when feeding. This adds a strategic layer to choosing victims;
  • Character behavior depends on dialogue choices.

Recently, the game was given an M17+ age rating.
