We live in very tolerant times, when an innocent action (sometimes even inaction) or a harmless word can ruin a life and ruin a career. How do you feel about the prospect of losing a profitable Twitch channel because a request to play chess with you was sent by a user with an erotic picture in his avatar? This is exactly what happened to streamer H2P_Gucio. We will tell you more about this and other ridiculous bans in this collection.
Let's start with the hero of the day. Many people know and respect the Polish streamer H2P_Gucio, because his content not only entertains, but also gives food for thought. He sometimes prefers a game of chess to skating rinks in Dota 2. Alas, yesterday he was sent a request for a joint game by a user with an erotic picture on his avatar. Twitch could not forgive such incivility and instantly banned the channel.
On his Twitter, the streamer joked that it would be better if he drew on his naked body, because the streaming service does not block such content so readily. This is the third ban of the channel, which means it can be blocked forever. By the way, H2P_Gucio received his first ban for a similar «offence.» Then he was invited to a game of chess by a lady with a naked photo on her profile picture. Either the streamer is simply unlucky, or his haters are very insidious.
If you're going to play Overwatch, remember three rules: behave with dignity, be a team player, and never mention Winnie the Pooh. In China, bans are handed out left and right for an innocent bear cub.
The fact is that Chinese President Xi Jinping has been subject to mocking comparisons with Winnie the Pooh. The Chinese authorities could not forgive such humiliation and first banned the bear himself, and then everyone who spoke about him. As soon as his name was written in the Chinese Overwatch chat, the offender was instantly banned. At the same time, some gamers trolled newcomers and, under various pretexts, forced them to mention the character, choking with laughter when they left the session shooter forever.
Twitch is fair, merciless and does not see the difference between an ordinary streamer and a professional eSports player. Thus, the status of a cyber athlete did not help Cloneman16, who plays for the Skyfoxes team in the Overwatch Contenders league, avoid a ban. However, his offense cannot be called anything other than controversial, because he simply uttered the word «Mongoloid.»
The fact is that in the states this is what they call uneducated people engaged in low-paid work. And «Mongoloid» is a scientific term. Anthropology believes that there are from three to seven races (the number varies depending on the scientific school), one of which is Mongoloid. Twitch did not understand what the streamer meant and issued a 30-day ban.
If Cloneman16 got off with a slight fright, streamer HelenaLive faced a much more severe punishment. On one of the broadcasts, a young lady stepped into forbidden territory and began talking about transgender people.
HelenaLive opined that there are only two genders: male and female. Of course, she then added that we are talking exclusively about biological nature, that she supports men who want to become women, and vice versa. But the gears had already started turning, and it was impossible to stop the punishment.
The streamer received a permanent ban without the right to rehabilitation, and many years of work on developing the channel went down the drain. Freedom of speech is important, but you are not allowed to talk freely about everything.
While most of the bans in this collection can be called unfair, the same cannot be said about this case. One of the users of the MMO Guild Wars 2 behaved disgustingly for a long time: he called gamers names, used cheats, and collected reports. However, when the developers decided to stage a show execution, the offender was clearly not amused.
The creators of Guild Wars 2 have taken control of the troublemaker's hero. As a result, the character undressed, waved goodbye to the camera and, taking a running start, jumped off the cliff. After the suicide jump, all of the villain's data was deleted from the servers. As they say, «here I was — and now I'm gone.»
DICE Studios is committed to ensuring fairness in the Battlefield series. The Swedes even developed an automatic FairFight algorithm: AI tracks statistics and identifies cheaters whose results are too good. It would seem like a great idea, but a soulless computer is prone to errors.
Gamers SpartanHopeLight and kl-Spazmo, according to them, did not use cheats, but achieved outstanding results through hard training and giving up their personal lives. Unfortunately, the AI was not interested in the details, and users were sent to a lifetime ban. Gamers tried to draw attention to the problem on Reddit, but, unfortunately, this did not lead to anything.
Massive clashes in World of Warcraft are not uncommon. The Horde regularly attacks the Alliance capital — and vice versa. Popular streamer Swifty once announced a party and gathered three thousand users on the server. Who would have known that the event would end with mass blocking.
Today, MMO developers are working to ensure that the servers can cope with a significant load, and are not against the initiative of gamers (they told us about this at a press conference), but in 2011, the server, of course, crashed, and Blizzard's security service probably took the party , as an unauthorized rally and issued a ban to the participants. If the streamer himself later managed to restore his honor and dignity and return to the game, then many ordinary gamers remained behind World of Warcraft.
The number of great games on the Nintendo Switch grows every year, and Splatoon 2 was released in 2017 by many. Unfortunately, the game suffers from a real dominance of cheaters. One day, a noble hacker even hacked it, not to gain an advantage, but to draw attention to the problem. But everything didn't go according to plan.
In the top of the best players in the world, the hacker wrote a message for Nintendo and the developers: «Please add an anti-cheat.» Next, the gamer turned to the Japanese corporation directly with the words: «You can block me, or you can pay attention to the problem and try to fix it.» How did Nintendo respond? You're still asking. «You have been involved in a serious or persistent violation of the rules and will therefore have limited use of your Nintendo Account.»
Today, thanks to Fortnite, Epic Games is one of the richest gaming companies in the world, but the studio has had its share of devastating failures along the way. For example, MMO Paragon. Today, the MOBA servers are already closed, but some gamers were unable to play it even at release, and the reasons are very unusual...
One day, a user named Muhammad Zakir registered in the game and received an instant ban. For what? The fact is that the Epic registration program is tied to the terrorist list of the American intelligence services, and on it... there is a terrorist with the same name. Later it turned out that the gamer was simply unlucky to be the exact namesake of the extremist, but by that time he had already changed his mind about playing Paragon.
Probably, this ban can be called the cutest, because it was issued at the request of the gamer himself. For one of the fans, Dota 2 has long ceased to be a source of pleasure and has turned into a real drug. The gamer himself was unable to cope with the problem — fortunately, the developers helped.
The user told his story to technical support and asked to temporarily block his account. The developers responded to the request with understanding and banned the gamer for thirty days. Whether this helped the poor guy get off the multiplayer needle is unknown, but the support service definitely deserved respect.

As you can see, you can get a ban for almost anything, so if you log into an online game, it's better to be silent, like a boa constrictor, and careful, like a miner. What interesting cases of blocking do you know? Write in the comments!
