Console Commands (Cheats, Codes) for Players and Admins in Valheim

Valheim is a new adventure game dedicated to the life and mythology of Vikings. If you've created your own server, you can manage it through the console. In this guide, we will list all the commands available to the administrator, as well as cheat codes.

What You Need to Know Before Using the Console in Valheim

Using cheats in Valheim can lead to serious in-game errors that can damage your save. Before you start entering cheats, it is recommended to perform the following actions:

  1. Save all existing worlds and all heroes.
  2. Copy the Valheim folder to a separate directory on your hard drive or in cloud storage.
  3. Start a new game.

Recommendations for Using Cheats

  • Do not create new items while inside a house.
  • Use only those cheats that you need at the moment.

Note: if you are playing on someone else's server, using cheats may lead to a ban.

How to Enable (Open) the Console in Valheim

  1. Open your Steam library and find Valheim.
  2. Right-click on the game icon and select Properties.
  3. Go to the General tab, then to Launch Options and enter the command -console.
  4. Start the game.
  5. Press the F5 button. To hide the user interface, press Ctrl + F3 simultaneously.

  • kick [player name / player ip / userID] β€” remove (kick) a user;
  • ban [player name / player ip / userID] β€” ban a user;

  • ping β€” send a ping to the server to increase the time between user actions and their reaction in the game;
  • lodbias [number] β€” change the lod value. It is responsible for the rendering of high-detail objects at a distance. The default is 1.5;

  • wind [angle] [intensity] β€” set the direction and speed of the wind (0 β€” calm, 0.1-0.3 β€” light breeze, 0.4-0.6 β€” moderate wind, 0.7-1 β€” strong wind and storm at sea);
  • resetwind β€” reset wind parameters;
  • skiptime [seconds] β€” fast forward time by the specified number of seconds;
  • tod [number] β€” set the time of day: 0 and 1 β€” midnight, 0.5 β€” noon, -1 β€” return to default values;

  • resetkeys [name] β€” reset the specified global key;

  • dpsdebug β€” enable or disable the display of damage per second.
  • env [name] β€” set the debug environment;

  • players [number] β€” adjust the difficulty scale. To lower it to the minimum, enter the number 0. If you want to increase it, enter whole numbers (1, 2, 3). The level of difficulty affects the damage and health of all creatures in the game.

How to Change (Alter) Your Character's Appearance in Valheim β€” Changing Gender, Adjusting Beard and Hairstyle

  • model [number] β€” change the main character's gender, 0 β€” male, 1 β€” female;
  • beard Beard [number] β€” change your hero's beard, numbers from 1 to 10;
