Games similar to The Squid Game
“Squid Game” is the most popular South Korean series released on the Netflix platform. The characters of the series find themselves in a survival game, where the main prize is a mind-boggling amount of money, and lives are at stake.
The popularity of the series also influenced the video game industry, because the plot of “The Squid Game” fits perfectly into an interactive game. As a rule, projects based on the series are based not on the history of the characters, but on the idea itself and the trials that the heroes had to go through.
Thus, video games based on “The Squid Game” are, in fact, sets of mini-games. As in the series, the conditions for each test are different. In the first episode, the characters must run across a field while playing Red Light, Green Light (also known as Statues). By the way, a similar episode, but only with a traffic light, is in the game Control.
In the second test, participants must cut out a certain shape from caramel, while trying not to break it. The third test is tug of war. Unlike the usual children's game, this version involves the death of one of the team, as the participants stand on the edge of a cliff.
Another notable challenge is the glass bridge. Players must jump on platforms, some of which are made of simple glass and break if you stand on them. Also, some projects have a game that is used when recruiting participants. Ttakchi is the Korean analogue of the game of hundred or as they are also called chips, caps.
Most games use the original English name Squid Game in the title - Squid Game Challenge, Squid Game Runner, etc. These should not be confused with the officially licensed series that Netflix is mentioning. Other games use only similar mechanics, but the names are not so clearly related to the series - K-Games Challenge, Survival Challenge - All Games, 456: Survival game and others.
It is worth noting that tests based on “The Squid Game” are also used in other popular projects.
