Released in 2017, Destiny 2 is the sequel to the first-person MMOFPS Destiny. The last city of humans has fallen under the onslaught of the enormous army of Ghaul, the ambitious commander of the sinister Red Legion. He has captured the Traveler, stripped the Guardians of their abilities, and driven the city's inhabitants into flight. Players will embark on journeys across mysterious unexplored worlds of our Solar System to acquire new weapons and powerful combat abilities. To crush the Red Legion and challenge Ghaul, you need to gather the heroes of humanity scattered across the system, stand together, and reclaim your home.
The online first-person shooter Destiny 2 is focused on multiplayer gameplay but also offers a story campaign for solo or cooperative play. It features elements of role-playing and crafting.
The gameplay of the sequel has moved away from the "pure MMOFPS" formula towards greater freedom of choice and entertainment. Right from the start, you can participate in public events, and after a few hours, raids and competitive modes become available.
There are more weapons, and they are more diverse, divided into three categories: kinetic (health damage), energy (shield damage), and power (armor damage). The first two are occupied by regular weapons—revolvers, submachine guns, and rifles, but they have different types of damage. The power category includes powerful sniper rifles, grenade launchers, and rocket launchers.
The leveling system has been reworked, with perks grouped into 3-4 per group, but they can be switched to match the combat situation. The shooting physics have become more realistic, and the artificial intelligence is smarter. It can now retreat, dodge bullets, and call for help.
There is no open world in Destiny 2, but there are many large locations on different planets of the Solar System, between which the player travels on a spaceship. The levels are still corridor-like but are multi-layered and contain many rooms without enemies that enhance the atmosphere.
The levels have a diverse landscape and structures, with many small details. The scale of the constructions is very well conveyed—from a small resistance shed to the cyclopean arcology on Titan. Additionally, each location has its unique atmosphere.
The events of Destiny 2 take place in the 28th century—humanity has survived a golden age, during which it conquered the planets and moons of the Solar System, and the subsequent collapse. On the brink of extinction, humans found the Traveler—a mysterious sphere that gave them new technologies and allowed them to survive as a species.
Having built the last city on Earth and a high wall, people thought they were well protected. The Guardians, who received the gift of immortality from the Traveler, protected them from external threats.
Several years after the events of the original, the alien Dominus Ghaul arrives with a massive army, dreaming of seizing the power of the Traveler. The Guardians, scattered across the system, are disorganized and divided.
The player is required to find and unite the three commanders: Zavala, Ikora, and Cayde, for which they will visit Titan, Io, and Cayde-6, and then lead a counterattack on the City to defeat the Red Legion. Each story mission includes 2-3 additional, handcrafted, non-repetitive quests.

Разница между классами сводится к способностям, технике рукопашного боя, применяемых гранат и скорости перемещения.
По мере прокачки все классы получают специализацию по типу урона — огненный, электрический и пустотный (магия). Переключаться между подклассами можно на лету.
Одиночная игра и кооператив
Сольный режим Destiny 2 требуется для ознакомления с игрой и её возможностями — как прокачиваться, какие есть враги, как путешествовать между мирами и так далее. Данный этап можно проходить и в компании с другом, детали от этого не изменятся.
Активности довольно просты — стрельба во все подряд, выполнение сюжетных миссий и публичных мероприятий для всех желающих. Довольно быстро можно попробовать себя в PvP, но основные функции открываются после 20 уровня персонажа.
Многопользовательская игра
Сетевых активностей в Destiny 2 множество и они обновляются каждый вторник:
- это развитие персонажа за счет добычи ресурсов и очков перков;
- поиск редкого оружия, брони и снаряжения, превращающийся в квесты на десятки часов;
- исследование новых локаций, вроде Города Грез, и поиск новых персонажей;
- выполнять самые разные контракты от ключевых NPC;
- прохождение рейдов на 6 игроков — самый сложный контент, требующий понимания всех игровых механик и умения взаимодействовать в команде;
- собирать коллекции, искать секреты и пасхалки.
Режим «Горнило» — это PvP с двумя возможностями — играть для души в «быстрых матчах» (дезматч) или же в «состязательных матчах» (командный дезматч). Награда за участие в этом режиме выше, а возможности игроков максимально уравнены.
- оружие и амуницию можно улучшить за счет модификаторов, подбираемых при разборе ненужных вещей;
- сложные сетевые активности, чье прохождение даже у опытной и прокачанной команды потребует час-другой.
- игра как сервис — в цикле поддержки Bungie выпустила дополнения с новым, многочисленным контентом — Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris, Destiny 2: Warmind, Destiny 2: Forsaken и другие.
