The Afrovenator is known from a single nearly complete skeleton, which simplifies its reconstruction. Most of the skull, legs, and some vertebrae have been preserved. The Afrovenator had a much longer and straighter shape compared to other theropod species resembling Torvosaurus. It had relatively long claws and a narrow skull, making it a slender hunter.

Афровенатор известен по единственному почти полному скелету, что упрощает его реконструкцию. Большая часть черепа, ноги и некоторые позвонки сохранились. У него были относительно длинные когти и узкий череп, что делало его стройным охотником.
