Privacy Policy

Last updated: 16 June 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how VGTimes ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal data when you visit vgtimes.com and its associated language subdomains (together, the "Site"), and the choices you have regarding that data.

The Site is operated by Sokolov Evgenii and Sokolova Anastasiia, Gabrov trg 24, 1000 Ljubljana, Slovenia (the "Data Controller"). For any privacy-related question or request, contact us at [email protected] or through our feedback form.

By using the Site, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Policy. Where we rely on your consent (for example, for our newsletter or non-essential cookies), we ask for it separately, and you can withdraw it at any time.

1. Who this Policy applies to

This Policy applies to all visitors and registered users of the Site, wherever they are located. Because we serve a large international audience — including users in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, and the United States — this Policy is written to meet the requirements of the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable U.S. state privacy laws.

2. Personal data we collect

Information you provide to us

  • Email address — only if you choose to subscribe to our newsletter or updates.
  • Contact details and message content — if you write to us through the feedback form, by email, or in a support request.
  • Account information — if you register on the Site, the username and credentials you create.
  • Comments and user-generated content — any text, nickname, or other information you post publicly on the Site.

Information collected automatically (usage data)

When you visit the Site, we and our service providers automatically collect technical data, including: your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type and unique device identifiers, the referring website, the pages you view, the date and time of your visit, time spent on pages, and similar diagnostic data. On a mobile device, this may include your mobile device type and identifiers, your mobile operating system, and your mobile browser.

Cookies and similar technologies

We and selected third parties use cookies and similar technologies, as described in Section 4.

We do not knowingly collect special categories of personal data (such as data revealing health, religion, or political opinions), and we ask you not to send us such data.

3. How we use your data and our legal bases

We use personal data for the purposes below, relying on the legal bases indicated (GDPR Article 6):

  • To operate and maintain the Site and to monitor its usage, performance, and security — legitimate interests in running and protecting our service.
  • To send newsletters and updates you have signed up for — your consent. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in each message.
  • To display advertising that funds the Site, including measurement and frequency capping — your consent for advertising/non-essential cookies and any personalized advertising, and legitimate interests for non-personalized ad delivery and fraud prevention.
  • To analyze and improve the Site, understand traffic trends, and measure the effectiveness of our content and campaigns — legitimate interests, using privacy-friendly analytics as described in Section 4.
  • To respond to your requests and provide support — legitimate interests, or to take steps at your request.
  • To comply with legal obligations and to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims — legal obligation and legitimate interests.
  • In connection with a business transfer — see Section 6.

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have weighed those interests against your rights, and you may object as described in Section 9.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:

  • Strictly necessary — required for the Site to function (for example, security, load balancing, and remembering your cookie choices). These do not require consent.
  • Analytics — to understand how visitors use the Site. We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool that, in its standard configuration, does not use tracking cookies, does not collect personally identifiable information, and reports only aggregated statistics.
  • Advertising — our advertising partners may set cookies or read device identifiers to deliver ads, limit how often you see an ad, and measure ad performance. Where the law requires it, these are used only with your consent.

Where consent is required (for example in the EEA and the UK), we request it through a cookie banner before placing non-essential cookies, and you can change or withdraw your choices at any time via the cookie settings on the Site. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some features may stop working as a result.

5. Advertising

The Site is supported by advertising. Advertising on the Site is managed by Playwire LLC, which works with third-party advertising partners to serve and measure ads. When Playwire's publisher advertising services are used, Playwire LLC and its partners may collect and use certain data (including cookies and device identifiers) for advertising purposes. To learn more about the data Playwire collects, how it is used, and your choices, see Playwire's Privacy Policy at playwire.com/privacy-policy.

Depending on your consent and location, ads may be contextual (based on the content of the page) or personalized (based on data collected about your activity). Our advertising partners act as independent controllers or as processors for the data they collect through ads and process it under their own privacy policies.

For users in the EEA, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland: where advertising services are provided by Playwire LLC, you will be shown messaging from a Consent Management Platform (CMP) about your privacy choices for digital advertising, applicable vendors, and cookie usage before non-essential cookies are set.

6. How we share your data

We do not sell your personal data for money. We share personal data only as follows:

  • Service providers (processors) who help us operate the Site — for example hosting, content delivery, newsletter email delivery, analytics, and security — and who may process data only on our instructions.
  • Advertising partners, as described in Section 5, subject to your cookie choices.
  • Legal and safety reasons — where required by law, regulation, legal process, or a governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of VGTimes, our users, or others.
  • Business transfers — if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any change in ownership or in the use of your personal data.

Note for U.S. users: under some U.S. state laws, the use of advertising cookies may be treated as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. See Section 9 for your opt-out rights.

7. International data transfers

We are based in Slovenia and serve users worldwide, so your data may be processed in countries other than your own, including by our service providers. Where we transfer personal data out of the EEA or the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as an adequacy decision or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

8. How long we keep your data

We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy:

  • Newsletter email addresses — until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
  • Usage and log data — for a limited period for security and analytics, after which it is deleted or aggregated and anonymized.
  • Data we must retain to meet legal obligations — for the period required by law.

9. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you have some or all of the following rights.

EEA / UK (GDPR):

  • Access a copy of your personal data.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erase your data (the "right to be forgotten").
  • Restrict or object to processing, including direct marketing and profiling.
  • Data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in Slovenia, the Information Commissioner — Informacijski pooblaščenec).

California (CCPA/CPRA) and similar U.S. state laws:

  • Know what personal information we collect and how we use and share it.
  • Access and delete your personal information.
  • Correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information.
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected] or use our feedback form. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. Exercising your rights is free of charge, and we will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

10. Data security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration, and we restrict access to those who need it to do their work. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Children's privacy

The Site is not directed to children under the age of 16 (or the minimum age set by your local law), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

12. Links to other websites

The Site may contain links to third-party websites and services that we do not operate. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of every site you visit.

13. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will post the updated Policy on this page with a new "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you (for example by email or a notice on the Site) before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Site after the changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
