Metacritic Reveals the Top Game Publishers of 2024: Sony Ranks 4th, Microsoft 9th

The review aggregator Metacritic has released its list of the best publishers of 2024. The ranking is based on the scores of games released by these companies, without considering sales and user reviews.
Here are the Top 10 Game Publishers of 2024:
- SEGA (325.5 points) — previously ranked 9th. Average score: 82.9. Highest-rated game of 2024: Metaphor: ReFantazio (94 points);
- Capcom (323.1 points) — previously ranked 1st. Average score: 82.1. Highest-rated game of 2024: Dragon's Dogma 2 (88 points);
- Aksys Games (318.1 points) — previously ranked 7th. Average score: 78.8. Highest-rated game of 2024: Spirit Hunter: Death Mark 2 (83 points);
- Sony (314 points) — previously ranked 13th. Average score: 80.9. Highest-rated game of 2024: Astro Bot (94 points);

Metacritic explained that the ranking was determined based on a point system calculated from the following four factors:
- The average Metascore for all games released in 2024.
- The percentage of scored products with good reviews (Metascore of 75 or higher).
- The percentage of scored products with poor reviews (49 or lower; a lower percentage is better).
- The number of "great" titles (Metascore of 90 or higher, with at least 7 reviews).
Previously, Metacritic also announced the top 20 TV series of 2024.
