«We don't want to be in the shadow of GTA 6»: the head of Xbox explained why the new Doom and Gears did not receive an exact release date
It seems that Grand Theft Auto 6 scored its first victory long before its release, scaring away competitors in the industry. Microsoft decided to hold back the release of Doom: The Dark Ages, Gears of War: E-Day and other projects, fearing the release of one of the most anticipated games.
In an interview with Variety Strictly Business, the head of Xbox Game Studios, Matt Booty, honestly admitted that the company is in no hurry to announce the release date of its games because of GTA 6. The studios have a well-founded opinion that the game from Rockstar Games will simply steal all the attention gamers on themselves.
Let us remember that at its own presentation, Microsoft showed several trailers for its future games, including Doom: The Dark Ages, Gears of War: E-Day and the reboot of Fable. All of them will be released in 2025, but have not yet received an exact release date. In the fall of the same year, a new GTA will appear.
