Fans of the Dragon's Dogma series have been eagerly awaiting the sequel, and many are also wondering if they will be able to enjoy the game with friends. After all, the first installment from Capcom gained popularity thanks to its engaging RPG mechanics, expansive world, and unique combat system that resembles a mix of Dark Souls and Monster Hunter. In this guide, we'll tell you everything known about the multiplayer aspect in Dragon's Dogma 2.
Unfortunately for those who were hoping for a cooperative experience, Dragon's Dogma 2 has been released as a single-player game. This was also previously stated by the game's director, Hideaki Itsuno, during the last announcement. Although the game will offer the Pawn system, which resembles cooperative interaction, a true multiplayer mode is not included in the game.
The Pawn system, first introduced in the original Dragon's Dogma, allows players to create and customize a companion with artificial intelligence who will accompany them on their journey and assist in battles. Players are entitled to add two more companions to their squad to form a full team of four people.
These companions can be taken from those created by other players, who have shared them online, thus creating an element of the online community. However, a full-fledged multiplayer mode as such is not present in the game.
There is, of course, a small chance that multiplayer could be added later as an expansion, but given that the Pawn system is tailored for single-player gameplay, this is unlikely. In any case, we will definitely update the guide if new information appears.
