How Many Endings Are There in Dragon's Dogma 2
On your first playthrough, it might be difficult to realize whether the game has multiple endings. You could finish the game without having any idea if you are missing out on something. To figure out on your own how to achieve a different ending, you need to pay attention to the game descriptions and unravel a few secrets. We will tell you everything you need to know to reach each finale.
The true ending of Dragon's Dogma 2 is much more interesting in terms of storyline and also adds a significant amount of gameplay. This is something you definitely won't want to miss if you have enjoyed the game up to this point. Next, we will break down all the available endings.
There are three different endings in Dragon's Dogma 2: good (referred to in-game as the true ending), normal, and bad. The latter is much easier to achieve, but it provides significantly less content.
How to Get the Bad Ending
For the bad ending, you simply need to progress through the story quests without doing anything special. You can complete as many side quests as you want; it won't affect the ending. Eventually, you will reach the quest where you need to find the Dragon Crystal to fix the Curse of the Gods.
Once you do this, you will pass through the gates and, essentially, be forced to fight the Dragon. However, this is not the real end of the game. Getting this ending is quite straightforward: when it comes time for the final battle in the story quest Legacy, turn away from the legendary creature and leave.
When you do this, the Dragon will speak to the hero and ask if they are sure they want to choose the path of escape. You will be presented with two options: Yes or No. Choose Yes, after which a cutscene will follow in Vernworth Castle, and the credits will begin.
How to Get the Normal Ending
To reach the normal ending of the story in Dragon's Dogma 2, you should simply play through the game in the usual manner, completing the main storyline quests as well as any available side missions. At the end of the adventure, players will face a final battle with the dragon. Defeating this creature, watch a series of cutscenes where the protagonist finds themselves in the throne room from the beginning of the game. To reclaim your position as the ruler of these lands, you need to take your place on the throne.
Essentially, this is the standard conclusion of the game, which will be sufficient for most players. However, achieving the true ending will allow you to see more content and delve deeper into the story of Dragon's Dogma 2.
How to Get the True Ending
To unlock the true ending in Dragon's Dogma 2, you should first complete most of the side quests in the game world. Increase your level, acquire powerful equipment, complete quests, unlock professions, and do everything that will allow you to maximize your character's improvements.
The path to the true ending in Dragon's Dogma 2 occurs during the quest Legacy, and can be achieved immediately or after completing any other ending of the game. If you have already unlocked one of the endings by going through the throne room to the credits, you need to talk to the eerie ghostly man who has accompanied you throughout the game.
After this conversation, turn around and talk to him again — this will place you next to the dragon on the path to the final battle. If you cannot figure out what is required of you, you will have to fight the Dragon again and continue doing so until you understand everything.
To exit the loop, crawl on the Dragon's back until you see a visual indicator of your hero's heart resonating with the Dragon's heart. When this happens, an indicator will light up, and you need to go into the inventory, select Enhanced Blade of the Gods' Curse, and then activate it. Afterward, use it on yourself — you will move on to the next part of the game.
This sequence of events completely changes the world, as well as closes off some parts of it, over time locking more locations. Although new quests will appear, your main goal is to destroy the red beacons scattered throughout the world. Approach them, study, and complete the challenges they offer.
Once you do all this, a new beacon will appear in the center of the map. You need to interact with it and follow the new events to reach the true ending.
The sequence of steps to achieve the true ending can be described as follows:
- Be sure to obtain the Empowered Godsbane Blade;
- Agree to battle the dragon and mount it;
- Approach its chest/heart;
- Use the empowered Godsbane blade from your inventory on yourself;
- Wait until you find yourself in the Unmoored World;
- Continue the new questline until the game is fully completed.
The blade is a key element that completely changes the state of the world during the quest Legacy. It can be obtained by upgrading the Dulled Godsbane Blade. Rothais recommends consulting with Ambrosius, so you should return to the forbidden magic research laboratory in Battale.
Head towards the quest marker, which will lead us to Ambrosius workshop. If you haven't been here before, be sure to pick up the items lying in his room:
- A Shard of Awakening Stone;
- The Seer's Diadem;
- Prescribed Tranquility;
- Seeker's Token.
When you finish collecting the loot, talk to Ambrosius and show him the Dulled Godsbane Blade. He will say that 15 Serpentine Life Crystals (WLC) will be needed for the repair, and also ask you to deliver them. As a reward, the character will give 25,000 gold.
