Gorou is a character in Genshin Impact, who was added to the game with the 2.3 update. He is a four-star archer who wields Geo magic. In this guide, we will tell you everything you need to know about this hero.
The hero can be summoned using one of the wishes. He was available in a banner with Arataki Itto, which appeared on December 14, 2021. However, at this moment, we do not know when the developers will add the banner with this character to the game again. Stay tuned for announcements!
If there is only one Geo character in your team, the active hero will receive a defense bonus. If there are two warriors or mages who wield Geo, you will receive additional protection from interruption of attacks and spells. If there are three Geo characters in your squad, you will get a bonus to Geo damage. These effects work within a certain radius around the banner. You can choose its location yourself if you hold down the button responsible for the elemental skill.
Additionally, every 1.5 seconds, a crystal of destruction will be created, dealing Geo damage to enemies. And if a crystal from the Crystallize effect is created on the battlefield, it will automatically be pulled towards the active character. This effect can occur once every 1.5 seconds.
Note that while General's Glory is active, you will not be able to summon the General's War Banner. And if you use the elemental burst when a banner is placed on the battlefield, it will be destroyed.
To level up Gorou's talents, you will need the following resources:
Spectral Husks, Spectral Nuclei, and Spectral Hearts are dropped by Specters. We have marked their habitats on the map:
A Spectral Nucleus can be crafted from 3 Husks, and a Spectral Heart from 3 Nuclei.
Teachings of Light, Guides to Light, and Philosophies of Light are obtained in the Violet Court on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Additionally, a Guide to Light can be crafted from 3 Teachings, and a Philosophy from 3 Guides.
Molten Moment is obtained by defeating La Signora.
The Crown of Insight could be obtained as a reward for various time-limited events (Invitation of Windblume, Lantern Rite, Fading Star) that have already passed. Currently, the only way to obtain this crown is to reach level 11 of the Frostbearing Tree. We have indicated where to find it on the map.
To unlock the constellations, you will need Gorou's Stella Fortuna. You will receive it if you obtain the hero again during wishes.
To ascend a character beyond level 20, you will need Mora and specific resources:
We have marked the locations where you can find Sango Pearls on the map:
Perpetual Hearts are dropped by the boss known as the Perpetual Mechanical Array. We have indicated where to find it on the map:
Spectral Husks, Spectral Nuclei, and Spectral Hearts are dropped by Specters. We have marked their habitats on the map:
A Spectral Nucleus can be crafted from 3 Husks, and a Spectral Heart from 3 Nuclei.
Prithiva Topaz fragments, shards, chunks, as well as precious Prithiva Topazes drop from the North Wolf and Geo Hypostasis. We have indicated on the map where you can find them:
Additionally, a Prithiva Topaz fragment can be crafted from 3 shards, a chunk from 3 fragments, and a precious Prithiva Topaz from 3 chunks. Prithiva Topaz shards are sold in souvenir shops.
Gorou is a support hero who increases Geo element attack. The best weapon choice for him is the five-star bow Elegy for the End. It increases energy recharge by 12-50.3% and elemental mastery by 60-120 units.
When an elemental skill or burst hits an enemy on the battlefield, a Remembrance Talisman will appear. When there are four, they will disappear, and your team members will receive an additional increase in elemental mastery by 100-200 units. Additionally, their attack will increase by 20-40%. This bow can be obtained through the Divine Enchantment prayer.
An alternative option is the four-star bow The Stringless. It increases elemental mastery by 36-165 units and also increases the damage of elemental skills and bursts by 24-48%. This weapon can be obtained through the prayers Born of Ocean Swell, Hidden Strife, and Divine Enchantment.
The best choice of artifacts is the Wanderer's Troupe set. 2 pieces from this set increase elemental mastery by 80 units. They can be found in the Golden House and Stormterror's Lair or dropped by the North Wolf. We have indicated their location on the map:
As an addition to the two artifacts from the Wanderer's Troupe set, it is worth using Retracing Bolide. Two pieces from this set will increase your shields' strength by 35%. They can be obtained in the Domain of Guyun. Its location is marked on the map:
An alternative option is the Archaic Petra set. If you collect 4 artifacts from this set, your Geo damage will increase by 15%. Additionally, shields generated by Crystallization will increase elemental attacks of a single element by 35%. The effect lasts for 10 seconds. This set of artifacts will be especially useful for those who have taken three Geo characters in their team. Items from the Archaic Petra set can be obtained in the Domain of Guyun. Its location is indicated on the map above.
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
Like any support hero, Gorou is there to enhance other characters. Use his elemental skill or burst to create the General's Glory effect or summon the General's Banner, then switch to your main DPS character.
It's optimal to first apply the elemental burst, and when its effect ends, use the elemental skill. Also, remember the Crystallization effect that occurs when Geo magic interacts with other elements (Electro, Pyro, and Hydro). It provides shields that reduce elemental damage.
Note that Gorou will be most effective if your team includes several Geo characters.
A Team with Three Geo Characters:
Such a squad will have immense defense, allowing you to manage without healers. If you're facing fire enemies, replace Pyro characters with Cryo heroes (Qiqi, Eula, Ganyu, or Ayaka).
A Team with Two Geo Characters:
In such a team, Gorou will still assist the second Geo character and provide your heroes with a high level of defense. It will be lower than in a squad with three Geo mages, but you'll be able to heal your heroes when necessary. As in the previous case, this team will be less effective against enemies associated with the fire element. For fighting them, consider replacing the Pyro character with a hero who possesses ice magic (Cryo) — Eula, Qiqi, Ayaka, or Ganyu.
