Guide to Power Armor in Fallout 4: Where to Find T-60 and X-01 Power Armor

In Fallout 4, there are a plethora of different options and modifications for power armor. This guide compiles the main questions related to power armor, power armor modification, and includes information on where to find the rare T-60 power armor and the unique X-01 armor.

Power Armor and Fusion Cores

The game mechanics of Fallout 4 are such that you cannot use power armor without a fusion core. It is necessary so that you can run fast and use all the capabilities of power armor, and as soon as the charge runs out, you turn from a strong steel and lightning-fast warrior into a slow fighter, unable to even get out of the line of fire.

Usually, a fusion charge lasts for 15-20 minutes of intense action, so you always need to have a spare, or even several, in your inventory. As soon as one fusion core is depleted, it will automatically be replaced with a new one. Running, fast travel, V.A.T.S., and melee attacks consume a significant amount of charge, keep this in mind.

If you exit the power armor, its location will be displayed on your map as a helmet icon. Game NPCs can steal it if you leave the power armor with a fusion core in it, so whenever you go somewhere for a long time, be sure to remove the core. Even if it is lying in a nearby box, NPCs will no longer be able to do anything.

Modifications for Fallout 4 Power Armor

By properly upgrading your power armor, you can significantly ease your gameplay and stop fearing enemies.

In addition to various types of power armor, such as T-45, T-45b, T-45d, raider power armor T-45DM, T-51, T-51b, as well as the rare armor T-60, T-60a, T-60b, T-60c, T-60d and the unique power armor X-01, there are also various modifications for them, for example, X-01 Mk.II and X-01 Mk.VI differ in their characteristics by more than twice.

Power armor has a frame and six main modules — one for the torso, one for the head, and four for the limbs. The most important part, of course, is the fusion core module, which can be improved with modifications to consume less energy.

A separate station is required for modifications — the Power Armor Station, which can be found at the Red Rocket truck stop and in Sanctuary Hills. You need to place your power armor directly into the station and then open the interaction menu.

After that, you can look at the available modifications for each of the six elements of the power armor. You can change the base model, A, B, C, D, E, F:

The material it's made of, for example, make it titanium or with explosion protection:

As well as install a modification, for example, a blood cleanser or servo motors:

Different parts of the power armor have different modifications:

Modifications consume a lot of various materials, so stock up on steel, lead, aluminum, fiber optics, adhesive, electronic circuits, and other materials.

We reiterate that different parts of the power armor contain both the same and different modifications, allowing you to make one power armor for assault operations, another for traveling through the Wasteland, and a third for exploring hard-to-reach places, for example, by installing jetpacks on it, as well as increasing radiation protection:

However, to obtain these upgrades, you will have to level up a whole range of perks, including perks from the Intelligence, Strength, and other lines.

You can also install modifications on the frame from different types of power armor, combining different variants. You can obtain them not only by searching in the Wasteland but also by completing quests, as well as purchasing from traders.

Where to Find T-60 Power Armor in Fallout 4?

This is quite a rare armor, which has higher parameters in terms of protection from damage, radiation, and electricity. Now we will tell you where you can find it.

T-60 Armor

In Fallout 4, there are only two factions that use this model — the Brotherhood of Steel and the Atom Cats, and you can get it either for free, by completing a bunch of quests and earning the faction's trust, steal it, if possible, or buy it for several tens of thousands of credits.

We won't tell you how it can be stolen, rather we'll explain that getting it for free is quite simple — you need to join the Brotherhood, by completing a series of story and side quests, then during the initiation into the Knights of the Brotherhood, you will receive this armor as a gift on the Brotherhood's airship. There you can also buy it from the quartermaster Teagan.

The Atom Cats can very well replace the Brotherhood, for this you also need to complete a series of quests for them, after which you will be allowed to visit the shop, which is managed by a character named Rowdy. If you are not interested in maintaining good relations with this gang, you can always rob them.

Parts for the T-60 power armor can be found in a place called Fiddler's Green Trailer Park. You will have to first hack into a room under a distinctive sign in the nearby office building, which can be done either manually or through a terminal — this way you will obtain a key that opens the trailer.

You need to find a yellow trailer with an orange stripe on the side, located to the north of the office. The T-60 power armor will be inside, but you must be at least level 25, better yet level 30, otherwise you will get the T-51 armor.

Where to Find X-01 Power Armor in Fallout 4?

This is a unique power armor in Fallout 4, so you will have to run around for it — it exists in a single piece, and its components are scattered across the Wasteland. Only characters from level 35 can obtain it, and it's even better to be at level 40. This decision by the developers is justified by the fact that it has the best protection parameters.

X-01 Armor

So, before you start searching in a certain place, make a save, so if the wrong part drops, you can come back later, being at a higher level. Keep in mind that searches are conducted in places with high radiation, full of traps and enemies, so be well prepared.

The first instance of X-01 can be found in the location Installation K-213, located in the sea (southwest of the game world map). You can get there through a hatch in the Abandoned Shack, located on the western border (two squares up on the map from the southwest corner). There you will be awaited by a bunch of synths, so you will have to kill them. The power armor is located on the lower floor, behind the staircase. It lacks a left arm and right leg, but you can manufacture them yourself.

The second instance of X-01, the advanced version Mk.3 is located in a place called Custom House Tower, on the coast, east of Diamond City. You need to find a building called Court 35, go inside and use the elevator — it will take you to the top of the tower. There you will be attacked by a series of robots, after destroying them you need to go into the room from which they came out and press the red buttons — then the door leading to the armor will open.

Some parts of the power armor are in the National Guard Training Yard, they lie in the armory, located behind the main building. You will need the skill of a master locksmith or a master hacker to get in there, the terminal, by the way, is located in the barracks nearby. As soon as you get inside, beware of traps — if they are triggered, a giant guard robot will be waiting outside to give you a proper beating.

Halfway down the road between Nordhagen Beach and Fort Strong, there is a concrete guardhouse. You'll easily find the armor inside — there's no security system at all, so you can just walk in and take it. Another suit of armor is located at the South Boston Military Checkpoint, southeast of Diamond City. Walk around the building until you see a cave. Inside it, there's a first version X-01 power armor. An expert-level hacking skill is required to unlock the terminal.

Once again, we remind you that this armor will only be available if you are at level 40 or higher.
