You can easily miss this mystery if you only follow the main storyline quests. After Indiana returns from his first expedition to Father Antonio and shows him the manuscripts found in the tomb, upon leaving the library, players will receive a side quest "A Nun in Trouble". If you want to gain additional experience and discover several mysteries in the Vatican, pause the main adventure and head to the marker on the map.

After completing the dialogue with the girl, you will receive a new task — to infiltrate the museum grounds. Until this point, the entrance to the courtyard will be closed, so now is the time to make your way to the marked point on the map and solve the puzzle.

To do this, you need to sneak through the military camp, which is fenced off and has tents. You can do this by using a narrow gap between the boards on the right side of the square.
