Best Skill Books for Leveling Up in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is a tribute to classic adventure games, offering one of the most exciting gameplay experiences ever created. At the start of the game, players are introduced to a unique skill enhancement system through books available in various parts of the world or for sale in the Vatican. In this guide, we will present a list of books worth studying first to effectively develop your character from the very start of the game.

What Skill Books Are For

Skill books grant access to new abilities or enhance existing ones, significantly improving Indiana Jones' combat capabilities. However, simply taking a book in hand does not mean instant mastery of a new skill. Each volume needs to be read by investing adventure points into the new ability. By going to the Books tab in the main menu, you can view a complete list of all found books, categorized accordingly.

On the right side of the screen, there will be a list of books available in the selected category. If you hover over the volume you are interested in, information will appear on how many adventure points are required to master a particular skill.

Such points can be earned by discovering secrets during exploration, collecting hidden items such as relics and letters, and photographing interesting objects using the camera you receive as you progress through the storyline. The game world contains many items that allow you to quickly accumulate adventure points if you carefully explore every corner and do not miss any details along the way. Our walkthrough guide and all the secrets will help you with this.

Once you have accumulated enough adventure points, you can acquire a skill by studying the corresponding book. After that, the ability will be activated, and you will be able to use it in combat or while exploring locations.

Brawler

The first and undoubtedly important book for leveling up is the Brawler book, which is a key element for enhancing Indy's combat potential. Although there is no obvious way to track the progress of each skill in the game, this book will be a great start as increasing damage in the early stages of the game is of great importance.

While other books may focus only on specific aspects of combat, the Brawler book affects both armed and unarmed combat damage, significantly strengthening Indy in various battles.

This book can be found in the Bastion of San Marco, one of the first areas of the Vatican. When you find yourself on one of the towers after obtaining the Captain's key, descend the stairs and take out a few foes. The book will be lying on a red crate next to large barrels.

You can also return to this area later if you missed it during the main quest. To find it, head towards the barrels and crates of the Castel Sant'Angelo, on the northwestern ramparts leading to the Passetto di Borgo. Since this is a starting skill book, it requires 200 adventure points to unlock.

Splinter Smash

Another interesting combat-related book is Splinter Smash. Although it's a bit more expensive than the previous one, its effect is well worth the cost. This book allows you to deliver a final powerful blow before the weapon breaks, dealing additional damage. For players who often use whatever comes to hand in combat, this book will be a great way to efficiently spend adventure points.

This book is located in the main square of the Vatican, in the Belvedere courtyard. Once you leave the library for the first time, head to explore the first tent in front of the library. In its far part, there is a locked chest that can be opened with the combination written on a ticket in the drawer — 5238. The ability will be available for 300 adventure points.

Shaping Up

The ability to improve your health in the early stages of the game plays a key role in successful progress. Shaping Up is a set of six upgrades that can be purchased rather than found randomly. This skill belongs to the survival category and requires additional costs — 5 medicine vials, in addition to adventure points. These upgrades are among the most valuable, as each new one increases your maximum health bar, making you much more resilient.

This book is the easiest to find — it is sold in the pharmacy. The cost of the upgrade is 300 adventure points. Unlike the issue with the price, finding medicine vials will be much more difficult, but as you progress through the game and discover other books, their search will become easier.

Pep

This is a great book for improving the character's stamina and energy. It is available first and is located in the main square of the Vatican, making it easily accessible along with several other books. The book increases Indy's stamina recovery rate, so if you prefer to move quickly through the game world, this will be a great investment early in the game.

The book Pep contains several upgrades that can be discovered later, so players should thoroughly explore each location.

To find it, you need to inspect the third and farthest tent in the main square in front of the library. A soldier sometimes patrols here, but picking up the book is not considered theft, so feel free to take it.

However, it is worth noting that the cost of the ability is much higher than other skills at this stage, amounting to 275 adventure points.

Vatican Mysteries

The book Vatican Mysteries is an extremely useful skill to acquire once you have a camera. It opens up the opportunity for players to better explore the surroundings of the Vatican and provides additional markers on the map indicating places where the secrets of the game world are hidden.

It is also linked to several other books that can be found in the lost and found at the Vatican post office. Although the cost of this book in adventure points is not specified, you can purchase it for 300 lira. Its functionality is similar to other skill books.

Throttle

The skill book Throttle is one of the most interesting books available at the beginning of the storyline. This skill does not increase damage and strength but gives players the ability to stealthily weaken enemies. It allows you to knock out unsuspecting light and medium-weight opponents with a single powerful blow. Although acquiring this book requires a bit more time, it is worth it due to the additional offensive capabilities.

To obtain this book, you need to complete a quest called A Nun in Trouble. This way, you will receive Juliana's key and gain access to the secret Father and Son to find the book on the table in a small office. The cost of studying it is 200 adventure points.

Lucky Hat

Many gamers decide to skip the Lucky Hat, but this book should not be ignored. It is a useful skill that gives a second chance at survival in battle. Found in the Castel Sant'Angelo, this book allows Indy to gain an extra life in combat.

Note that the hat only works if Indy is in his adventurer's outfit, so it's worth changing clothes when you find yourself in places where other outfits do not provide significant advantages.

This book is not that difficult to find, although it can easily be missed while examining other items in the room. It is located in the Captain's Room in the Castello, in the same area where the Captain's Key is located — an item for the storyline quest. Although Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is quite variable in its playthrough, and even this item can be easily missed if you choose a different route.

When you reach the upper levels of the bastion's guard area, climb to the second floor and take out the guard. In the adjacent room, a key will be hanging on the wall, and the book awaits nearby on the nightstand.

The cost of the book is only 125 adventure points, making it more accessible compared to some other skills that Indy can master.

Punch Out

This book can be compared to the Lucky Hat as it is underrated. Punch Out is an important upgrade that players should not ignore. The book includes several levels of upgrades, and the first one is available in the Castel Sant'Angelo. This skill restores Indy's stamina with each enemy knockout, making it indispensable in the early stages of the game. It also falls into the category of skills affecting melee combat, making it an important addition for the gamer.

The first volume can be found immediately upon arriving at the Vatican, specifically during the journey to Father Antonio. In the guard area, you need to find a small guardhouse with one soldier, knock him out, and take the book. It is one of the cheapest skills, costing only 25 adventure points.

Climbing Ace

Being one of the most important books that players can obtain in the early stages of the game, Climbing Ace holds a key position in the list of priority upgrades. This book, which enhances physical ability, is quite easy to find in the early stages of the playthrough. It allows Indy to climb ledges faster using the sprint button while consuming less stamina, making it extremely useful in the further adventure.

It can be found on the way to the Vatican post office during the first storyline quests. Upon reaching the locked gates blocked by the Germans, you will have a choice: turn right or left. Choose the second option, enter the archway, and climb up the drainpipe. Here, a man will be sitting at a small table, and behind him in the corner lies the book.

It's quite easy to miss. For instance, we found it much later after visiting this place for the first time. This book is the first in the set, giving you additional potential for skill improvement.

Vatican Books

Vatican Books is one of the most important books that every player should upgrade first. While it may seem logical to improve health or speed initially, Vatican Books is an exploration skill that adds the location of all books around the city to Indy's map. This book will be a real find for players who are not very attentive and need additional help in finding some of the most hard-to-reach books throughout the game world.

Like Vatican Mysteries, this book can be purchased at the lost and found in the Vatican post office. Its cost is also 300 lira, so you may have to choose between this book and Vatican Mysteries.
