Complete Resource Guide for Assassin's Creed Shadows: How to Find and Use

Like in any role-playing game, in Assassin's Creed Shadows, you need to level up your character and gear to fight stronger opponents in the final stages of the game. Special resources, which can be replenished in all locations, will help you with this. Let's discuss what materials you can find in the new part of the legendary series and what they are used for.

Types of Resources

You can gather resources for one of two activities: either to improve your hideout or to enhance weapons and armor. All of them are found in sufficient quantities during the game and significantly affect the gameplay.

Items for Improving the Hideout

If you want to build a new structure in the settlement or upgrade the level of an existing one, you will need the following items:

  • Wood;
  • Minerals;
  • Straw;
  • Mon (in-game currency).

Items for Enhancing Inventory

In turn, the variety of materials for weapons and armor is much greater. This list includes:

  • Hemp Cloth (improves Naoe's armor);
  • Silk (for trinkets);
  • Ferruginous Sand (enhances the heroine's weapons);
  • Leather (needed to strengthen Yasuke's armor);
  • Tamahagane (for the character's long katana);
  • Oak (increases the level of Yasuke's ranged gear);
  • Gold (a rare metal that greatly improves inventory in the final stages and is obtained closer to the end of the game).

How to Find Resources

The game is rich with options for obtaining any of the items. Almost all of them are suitable for both types of extraction. Let's consider all the ways in turn.

Obtain by Completing Contracts

You can always take on a contract at your hideout or in special places called Kakurega in cities. Pay attention to those tasks that offer the most rewards: these are usually contracts for silent assassinations or supply thefts.

If you have completed all missions, move to another location or wait for a change in weather season to get a new batch of contracts.

Search Chests and Forbidden Zones

When clearing a forbidden zone, be sure to search chests for various items. From one storage, multiple different items are often available. Additionally, materials themselves, though in small quantities, may simply lie nearby on the ground.

Send Spies for Smuggling

Spies can bring you resources. Call them when discovering a depot on enemy territory. To do this, approach the necessary containers and summon your comrades. Note that enemies should not be aware of your presence.

Don't forget to upgrade your hideout structures related to spies to receive more supplies during such raids. You can read more about other nuances of smuggling in our guide.

Purchase from Port Traders

Not the most profitable method: all materials are sold at a rather high price. It would be more practical to spend mon on powerful weapons to clear enemy territories faster and accumulate loot.

These traders reside in Sakai, Amagasaki, Kakogawa, the old port of Aga, and in the territory of Omizo.

Dismantle Items at the Blacksmith

This option is suitable for materials related only to upgrading gear levels. Break down unnecessary items to obtain a small amount of the corresponding resource.

How to Earn Mon

Let's look separately at where you can find stocks of in-game currency. The number of ways is no less here, as coins are required not only for leveling and upgrades:

  • Search dead enemies and chests;
  • Receive for completed contracts;
  • Sell unnecessary items and materials to a trader at a favorable rate;
  • Purchase additional content, including mon, for special currency;
  • Collect money for completing story and side quests.
