How to Get Pets in Assassin's Creed Shadows

Can you get a pet in Assassin's Creed Shadows? Strangely enough, yes, this opportunity exists. Your Hideout has room for a variety of animals, from cats and dogs to more exotic species. Although animals do not provide any gameplay bonuses, you can pet them. In this guide, we will tell you how to tame animals and how to make them settle in your Hideout.
How to Unlock Pets
The process of acquiring a new pet in Assassin's Creed Shadows is incredibly simple. If you encounter an animal in the city or wilderness, approach it. A prompt will appear on the screen, suggesting you pet the creature. After this, an icon will appear indicating the type of animal. It also confirms that the creature is now available as a pet.
With wild animals, more caution may be needed, especially if they are skittish (for example, cats). However, the process remains unchanged: see the prompt — interact!
Some animals are given as rewards for quests. When you complete such a task, the pet will be added to the list of available ones. However, you can often unlock them even before this — if you manage to pet the animal as part of the quest, it will already be considered yours.
How to Settle Pets in the Hideout
After taming a pet, it still needs to be settled in the Hideout — it will not appear there automatically. To add a new friend to your camp, use the "Hideout Improvement" menu.
Steps:
- Enter the Hideout;
- Open the "Hideout Improvement" menu by holding the corresponding button;
- Go to the "Structures" section;
- Scroll down the list until you find the category with unlocked pets;
- Select the desired animal and place it in the camp.
The "Structures" section allows not only the construction of buildings but also the management of other elements of the camp. In the tab with an icon depicting an animal face with sharp ears, you will find all unlocked pets. They also appear at the bottom of the "All" list.
After selecting a pet, it can be placed on any free cell in the camp. Like buildings, animals can be moved or even removed if necessary, but the animals themselves will remain active and will freely roam the territory. No resources are required for their placement, so fill the base with furry (and not only) companions as much as you like! Unique pets obtained through quests exist only in a single copy.
