Todd Howard responded to whether Fallout: New Vegas is considered canon in the universe
Immediately after the premiere of Fallout, fans began to debate whether Fallout: New Vegas should be considered canon — after all, it was not released by Bethesda, but by Obsidian Entertainment. Fans were confused by a detail in one of the episodes, according to which the capital of the New California Republic, Shady Sands, was bombed in the year 2277, although in the game, which takes place in 2281, the city still exists. Yesterday, Todd Howard had to explain who is right.
In a recent interview with IGN, Todd Howard explained that all Fallout projects are part of the official chronology. The story of the journey through the Mojave Wasteland was not erased by anyone.
«We're careful about the timeline. There might be a little bit of confusion in some places. But everything that happened in the previous games, including New Vegas, happened. We're very careful about that. All I can say is we're threading it tighter there, but the bombs fall just after the events of New Vegas.»
Howard added that the idea of bombing Shady Sands was invented by the writers. Initially, it shocked the developer, but later he came to the conclusion that it was an impressive plot point that would serve as a catalyst for the show's main characters.
Earlier, we reported that thanks to the premiere of the series, many Fallout games became very popular.
