Swen Vincke on mature scenes in Baldur's Gate 3: «There were some people who felt uncomfortable»

Larian Studios head Swen Vincke participated in a roundtable discussion with RPG developers, where he elaborated on the creation of love scenes in Baldur's Gate 3. It turns out that some of Vincke's colleagues were against the game addressing such mature themes.

We try to be as true to life as we could. Internally in the studio there were some people who felt uncomfortable, and we said, it's a mature game, right? We're going to treat it like what you would see on TV. A series I refer to often was American Gods, which I thought was really well done [in how] it treated mature themes and fantasy settings.

Vincke also noted that the quality of the scenes plays an important role and recalled the famous bear video. «it was really a squirrel that was not looking. The rest was the theater of your mind. You filled that in, we didn't do that!» — Vincke joked.

Larian previously confirmed that it is already working on two new games. One of them, according to the authors, is supposed to surpass Baldur's Gate 3.
