Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 devs talked about the competition with GTA 6, Civilization 7, and Assassin's Creed: Shadows

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has a very busy release window: the game is released on the same day as Civilization 7, and alongside them are Assassin's Creed: Shadows, Avowed, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. In a recent interview, the Warhorse studio talked about how they feel about the big competition with other projects.

Of course we are not jumping for joy about it, but on the other hand it does not matter when you release your game — there will always be other in the same month. Choosing the right date is always difficult and risky. If we wanted to wait longer, we could have collided with GTA 6, earlier — it will be the holidays. Choosing the right date is a challenge in itself.

And we are sure that we have a really high quality game. It is the game we always wanted to make. Technically and performance-wise it works better than KCD1, both on the release day and today, so I am not worried about that. We only have the same release day as Civilization 7; it would be ideal to have a solo presence then, but it is what it is — we will somehow reach all our fans.

Assassin's Creed or Avowed are coming out a bit later, so at least we are the first when it comes to RPGs. Civilization 7 is about history and KCD2 is a game set in historical times, so theoretically we overlap a bit, but generally the genres are different — it should be fine.

The release of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 (and Civilization 7) will take place on February 11. Earlier, the authors presented two hours of fresh gameplay.
