System Shock 2 Remaster Changes Title, Release Date to Be Announced in March

Suddenly, Nightdive Studios announced the renaming of System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition to System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster and announced the release date. The remaster will be released on PC (Steam and GOG), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.

The release date of the project will be announced on March 20 at the Future Game Show Spring Showcase, and a new trailer will be shown at the same time. Here is the official description of the remaster:

It’s the year 2114. As you awake from cryo sleep on the FTL ship Von Braun, you are unable to remember who or where you are... and something has gone terribly wrong. Hybrid mutants and deadly robots roam the halls while the cries from the remaining crew reverberate through the cold hull of the ship. SHODAN, a rogue AI bent on the destruction of mankind has taken over, and it's up to you to stop her. Delve through the corridors of the derelict ship Von Braun and immerse yourself in the story-rich atmosphere and environment. Explore deck by deck and unravel the horrifying fate of the Von Braun and her crew.
— Synopsis

Recall that the remaster was announced back in 2019, but its release was postponed. System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster is being developed on the KEX Engine with improved textures, models and network play, and also uses the best mods with the permission of the authors.

A remaster of Days Gone for PlayStation 5 was also recently announced. Players reacted quite negatively, since there is almost no visible difference in quality.
