Discord Can Now Be Embedded Directly Into Games

Discord has unveiled its new Social SDK, a toolkit that allows game developers to embed the platform’s communication features directly into their titles. This innovation unlocks unique opportunities for in-game social interaction, even for players who don’t use Discord.
With the Social SDK, developers can integrate cross-platform voice chat, friend lists, and other social tools—previously exclusive to the Discord app — into their games. This means players can communicate, strategize, and send invites seamlessly while staying immersed in gameplay.
Currently, the Social SDK supports C++ programming, Windows 11, macOS, and popular engines like Unreal Engine and Unity. Discord plans to expand compatibility to mobile devices and consoles, broadening the toolkit’s versatility.
Major titles such as Rust, Supervive, Pax Dei, Splitgate 2, Marvel Strike Force, Arena Breakout, and Delta Force have already adopted the SDK. Discord claims this integration will deepen player connections and elevate multiplayer experiences.
Notably, no Discord account is required to use these features. This is especially impactful in regions where the platform is restricted where Discord has been blocked. The Social SDK could redefine in-game social dynamics, offering developers and players fresh ways to collaborate and engage — all without leaving the game.
