The essence of Euro Truck Simulator 2 is simple — you need to transport cargo across Europe, between different cities and settlements. For this, you earn money and experience. The first goes to all expenses and the purchase of new vehicles, while the second allows you to unlock new trucks, trailers, and missions. The higher the level — the more money and the more complex the transports.

The career of a truck driver has two development options. You can open your own company, work around the clock, earn money, and hire new drivers. In this case, you will have more money, but the expenses will fall on your shoulders: buying fuel, maintenance, and repairs, all at your expense. You will also have to pay fines and, if you damage the cargo, pay penalties.

The second option is to become a hired driver and serve other companies. This way, you can not only earn money but also try out different heavy trucks, choose the best ones, and then buy what you have already dealt with for your own company. In this scenario, you won't have to pay for anything, but the income will be more modest.

Notably, the game features a fatigue simulation system. After 9 hours of rest, you are allowed to drive for no more than 11 hours, after which you need to find a parking spot and rest. If you don't do this, the driver will start to fall asleep, may get into an accident, and will definitely receive a mountain of fines for violating labor laws.

Each vehicle in the game has tuning options for the body, upgrades for all components and assemblies, painting in several ways, and giving a unique look with various trinkets.
