A modern reimagining of the iconic role-playing game Gothic, preserving the atmosphere of a dark and brutal world that became a symbol of the original. The action once again unfolds in the Valley of Mines on the island of Khorinis, where a magical barrier has turned the place of exile for criminals into an isolated state with its own laws, factions, and a constant struggle for power.
The remake carefully retains the key features of the classic — the freedom to explore, a vibrant open world, and a sense of danger at every turn. The inhabitants of the colony continue to live by their own schedule, and the surrounding world reacts to the hero's actions and the development of the conflict between camps. At the same time, the game has received completely updated graphics, a revamped combat system, expanded quests, and new opportunities for exploration, preserving the spirit of the original game while adapting it for modern players.

I'm still playing the game on Xbox Series X. This is my first time playing it; I've never played the original Gothic games before, and I'm not a fan or a diehard fanatic. Gothic 1 Remake is, overall, a good product, significantly improved on all fronts. I had one major complaint about the developers: the lack of 60 FPS and performance modes at launch on older Xbox consoles and PS5 (it's slightly better now, and the FPS stays around 50 with the "unlocked" performance mode. Overall, an 8/10 is the ceiling for this game, and an excellent result, in my opinion).

Gothic 1 Remake, в целом, хороший продукт, качественно улучшенный по всем м фронтам. Глобальная претензия к разработчикам была одна — это отсутствие 60 FPS и режимов работы игры на старте продаж на старших версиях консолей Xbox и PS5 (сейчас уже немного лучше и FPS держится в пределах 50 при «нефиксированном» режиме производительности. В целом и общем — 8/10 — это полоток для этой игры и это отличный результат, как мне кажется)
An excellent remake. This is the first remake I've really enjoyed. The problem is that developers usually overhaul games in remakes, so it's a completely different game, and at best, you play through it once and forget about it with a slight feeling of disappointment. But here I play and enjoy every minute. It feels like a new game, but with a sense of déjà vu. It doesn't feel like you're playing through something you've played dozens of times before.
Отличный ремейк . Это первый ремейк который мне зашел на ура . Беда в том что разработчики обычно перекраивают игру в ремейках так что это уже совсем другая игра и в лучшем случае пройдешь один раз и забываешь о ней с легким чувством разочарования . а тут я играю и наслаждаюсь каждой минутой играется как в новую игру но чувством дежавю . нет ощущения что проходишь то что проходил когда то десятки раз .
I probably played through the old Gothic five times. For me, it's a childhood game, with all its flaws, bugs, and clunky animations. So I approached the remake with both hope and apprehension: how could they ruin it?
I'll put it this way: they didn't ruin it. But I wouldn't call it perfect either.
The first thing that pleased me was that the world felt familiar from the very first minutes. The same colony, the same camp by the stream, the same NPC faces. Diego speaks with the same voice (special thanks for that), and when he sends you out to get junk again, you feel right at home. The developers didn't turn Gothic into a Disneyland; they didn't soften the characters. They're still just as prickly and mischievous, but with their own charm.

Я старую Готику проходил раз пять, наверное. Для меня это игра детства, со всеми её косяками, багами и кривыми анимациями. Поэтому к ремейку относился с надеждой, но и с опаской: ну как испортят?
Скажу так: не испортили. Но и идеальным назвать язык не поворачивается.
Первое, что порадовало — мир узнаётся с первых минут. Та же колония, тот же лагерь у ручья, те же рожи у NPC. Диего говорит тем же голосом (вот за это отдельное спасибо), и когда он в очередной раз посылает тебя за хламом, чувствуешь себя как дома. Разработчики не стали делать из Готики Disneyland, не смягчили персонажей. Все такие же колючие, вредные, но со своим шармом.
