HowtoFishIdentityAPI is a shared identity verification framework for How to Fish mods, providing server-authoritative modifications with verified, persistent player identifier keys.
Main Features:
- Steam Authentication: Authenticates Steam players using the SteamID confirmed by the game's native Steam transport.
- Non-Steam Verification: Authenticates non-Steam players via local RSA cryptographic keys and server-issued challenge handshakes.
- Stable Identifier Keys: Exposes persistent identifier strings (such as steam:<SteamID> or key:<public-key-hash>) after verification.
- FishNet Handshake: Uses dedicated FishNet broadcasts for fast and secure network handshakes.
- Developer Hooks: Fires verification events allowing dependent mods to securely initialize server-side player data and persistent profiles.
For Players:
- This mod is an API / core dependency. It does not introduce gameplay mechanics, UI elements, commands, or economy systems by itself.
- Only install this mod when listed as a prerequisite by other mods. For multiplayer sessions, ensure both the host and connecting clients have it installed as specified by the dependent mod.
Installation:
- Ensure BepInEx 5 (x64) is installed.
- Place the HowtoFishIdentityAPI.dll file into: How to Fish/BepInEx/plugins/
- Launch the game.
