Who are modmakers?
Modmakers are authors of mods and other files who release their own work on VGTimes. The status gives you:
- Publishing your own files without review. Files marked “I am the author” go live right away. Files by other authors are moderated as usual.
- Modmaker dashboard — weekly downloads and a 30-day chart, ratings and followers, what changed since your last visit, your rank among authors site-wide and in every game, and all comments on your files in one feed. The link is in the menu under your avatar.
- A Modmaker badge in your profile and comments.
How to get the status?
The status is granted automatically when all conditions are met:
- you publish files you made yourself and mark them “I am the author” when uploading;
- you released at least one new original file in the last year;
- you visited the site within the last month;
- your original files were downloaded at least 1,000 times in the last year.
The check runs on the first day of every month. When you are logged in, the top of this page shows how close you are.
Mark only your own work as “I am the author”.
How to keep the status?
The monthly check removes the status if:
- you have not released a new file in the last year;
- your original files were downloaded fewer than 500 times in the last year;
- you have not visited the site for more than a month.
The dashboard warns you in advance when the status is at risk. A removed status comes back automatically once the conditions are met again.
