A dedicated FPV drone modification for How to Fish that turns standard sticks of dynamite into hand-flown, manual acro-mode quadcopters equipped with a complete Betaflight/INAV-style telemetry OSD. Pilot your payload through complex flight lines and detonate on impact or via remote trigger.

The mod avoids external drone 3D mesh assets: the quadcopter frame is constructed procedurally at runtime around the game's native explosive entity using standard rigidbodies and Unity physics. Because it utilizes the base engine's item architecture, thrown items synchronize over multiplayer out of the box without requiring custom network synchronization layers.

Requirements:

  • BepInEx (Mono, x64) for How to Fish.
  • CTDynamicModMenu — required for the command interface and configuration toggles ("Drone" tab).
  • Gamepad, Joystick, or RC Transmitter in USB/HID mode (keyboard stick control is not supported). Calibrated around Mode 2 transmitters (e.g., FrSky Taranis QX7), but compatible with any standard HID gamepad/joystick axes.

Obtaining & Spawning Drones:

  • Island Stands: Purchase directly from newly added drone stands beside existing shops on every island (priced identically to base dynamite).
  • On-the-Fly Conversion: Pick up any explosive and press the skin-swap key (Y or C by default) to convert it into a quadcopter frame in your hands, or revert it back to raw TNT.
  • Console Command: Enter /fpvdrone (or /fpvdrone <item name> for alternative payloads) to spawn a drone directly ahead and enter FPV flight view.
  • Manual Launch: Throwing or dropping an assembled drone initiates active flight. Only one active drone per player is permitted at a time.

Flight Physics & Telemetry OSD:

  • Authentic Acro Physics: Simulated with true mass, gravity, aerodynamic drag, and unrestricted angular rates. Features no auto-leveling or bank angle limits, allowing full flips, rolls, and inverted maneuvers.
  • FPV Telemetry OSD: Includes an artificial horizon calculated from actual camera vectors (maintains orientation through rolls and inverted flight), a static crosshair, altitude, airspeed, battery/consumption telemetry, link stats, and a home point indicator.

Default Flight Controls (Mode 2 Mapping):

  • Throttle / Yaw — Left stick (vertical / horizontal).
  • Pitch / Roll — Right stick (vertical / horizontal).
  • Detonate in flight — Left/Right trigger, south face button (A / Cross), Start, transmitter switch, or Enter.

Console Commands & CTDynamicModMenu Interface (Hotkey: F4):

  • /fpvdrone [item] — Launch a drone immediately, optionally with a designated payload.
  • /dronediag — List all detected controller/transmitter axes and real-time inputs.
  • /droneaxis <stick> <index> — Map a raw HID joystick axis to roll, pitch, throttle, or yaw.
  • /dronestick — Swap physical stick assignments (throttle+yaw vs. pitch+roll).
  • /dronecam <forward> [height] — Adjust FPV camera positioning offset on the frame.
  • /dronetilt <degrees> — Set camera uptilt angle (0°–90°, default is 30°).
  • /dronemodel — Toggle visibility of your own airframe/propellers while in FPV.
  • /droneinfinite — Enable infinite flight time (disables battery timeout).
  • /droneimpact — Toggle collision-based contact detonation.
  • /droneothers — Render other modded players' thrown explosives as quadcopters.
  • /dronestanddiag — Dump diagnostic hierarchy data for the drone shop stand.

Installation Instructions:

  1. Install BepInEx (Mono, x64) into the root folder of How to Fish.
  2. Place CTDynamicModMenu.dll into BepInEx/plugins/.
  3. Drop HTFDrone.dll into the BepInEx/plugins/ directory.
  4. Connect your controller or RC transmitter in HID mode and launch the game.
