This futuristic action role-playing game follows a conflict on Giga City, a massive artificial island, in the year 22XX. The discovery of Force Metal transformed Reploid engineering, and the island was built to mine the mineral. When a group of Reploids rebels under Epsilon, whom the government identifies as a Maverick, an elite team of Maverick Hunters led by X is sent to the island.
The player assembles a three-member team from a roster of seven characters, including X, Zero, and Axl. Combat features the Cross Order System for executing special and finishing attacks. Force Metals can be used to upgrade characters’ weapons, abilities, and attack moves, improving their combat performance.
