This is a private airport for general aviation located in the Çatalca district of Istanbul, Turkey. This facility, one of four airports in Istanbul, is named after Hezarfen Ahmed Çelebi, a legendary Ottoman aviator who allegedly flew across the Bosphorus in the 17th century, as recounted by the contemporary traveler Evliya Çelebi. The airfield spans 500 acres (200 hectares) and is situated on a peninsula surrounded by Lake Büyükçekmece to the south and the O-3 highway to the north. It is located 50 km west of Istanbul.
