NBA Live 2005 is a basketball simulation focused on NBA games and building a team dynasty. Freestyle Air controls let players perform dunks and alley-oops, adjust shots in midair, make put-backs and tip-ins, and take charge of shot blocking on defense.

NBA All-Star Weekend includes the All-Star Game, the 3-Point Shootout, the Rookie Challenge, and a Slam Dunk Contest with customizable dunks. In Dynasty Mode, a franchise can develop over 25 seasons as players negotiate free-agent contracts, manage the salary cap, and follow league news and team information through a customizable PDA.
