A targeted quality-of-life utility for Valheim that allows players to retrieve mistakenly queued materials, uncooked ingredients, and fuel units from processing stations one at a time without breaking them down with a hammer. The plugin adheres to native destruction logic: an item can be extracted only if the vanilla engine would drop that exact item upon demolishing the structure. Completed products (cooked meals, refined metal ingots, finished meads) continue to use native extraction routines and remain unaltered.
Controls & Requirements:
- Hold Alt Place (default: Shift) and press Use (E) while targeting the station's interaction node.
- The return prompt appears only when: the server configuration authorizes the feature, the player has building access permissions (no ward locks), the station holds valid recoverable cargo, and the cheated-queue validation checks pass.
Key Systems & Integrity Safeguards:
- Fuel Unit Precision: While the UI displays whole units, stations consume fuel continuously as floating-point values (stored values sit between 0 and 1 during active burns). The mod rounds any stored fuel greater than 0 up to 1 whole unit, enabling full retrieval of the active fuel piece.
- LIFO Smelter Queue Order: Queued smelter ores are pulled from the tail of the stack (newest items first). Emptying the line resets internal bake timers and queue flags cleanly.
- Cooking Skill Rollback: Vanilla awards 0.4 Cooking skill upon manual meat insertion. The mod logs the slot author; retrieving uncooked food deducts exactly 0.4 XP from the original player to prevent skill-farming exploits.
- Ballista Ammunition: Off by default. When enabled, permits unloading missiles from turret prefabs equipped with destruction refund parameters.
- Hard Limitations: Campfires and hearths cannot be refunded (Valheim incinerates campfire fuel upon demolition). Shield generators are bypassed because mixed fuel types cannot be accurately reconstructed from aggregate energy pools.
Installation & Configuration:
- Ensure BepInEx is installed.
- Extract the StationItemReturn folder into:
<Valheim_Directory>\BepInEx\plugins\. - Launch the game.
- Modify operational flags and turret rules in-game using Configuration Manager (press F1).
