An atmospheric utility mod for Valheim introducing a wearable hip lantern designed to dispel darkness while keeping both hands available for weapons, shields, and tools. Inspired by the tactical hand lanterns of Bloodborne and Elden Ring, HipLantern streamlines dungeon crawling through burial chambers and nighttime skirmishes without breaking combat flow. The mod features comprehensive configuration options: customizable luminance, radius, tint, dedicated equipment slot assignments, enchantment framework support, infinite burn toggles, and decorative item-stand mounting that lures nocturnal insects.

Hands-Free Night Traversal — Equips directly to your Viking's hip, providing immediate radial visibility without sacrificing weapon or shield hand slots.
Dynamic Lighting Controls:
Independent tuning for intensity, light projection radius, and shadow cast strength (isolated indoor and outdoor profiles);
Full RGB palette light tint customizer;
Adjustable hip offset coordinates and lantern mesh tilt.
Slot Architecture & Framework Support:
Utilizes a dedicated standalone slot ID out of the box to bypass inventory conflicts;
Native integration with AzuEPI custom equipment slots;
Optional fallback to standard Utility item categorization, guaranteeing full compatibility with EquipmentAndQuickSlots (EaQS 3.x) utility sockets.
Mod Compatibility:
Enchantable via EpicLoot modifier pools;
Socketable with gemstones via Jewelcrafting (disabled by default).
Item Stand Mounting:
Can be mounted onto wall or floor item stands to illuminate outposts;
Emits ambient nocturnal insect lures after nightfall to create cozy aesthetic lighting.

Fuel Management & Crafting Presets:

Default Blueprint: 3 Surtling Cores, 10 Bronze Nails, 4 Fine Wood (Crafted at the Forge).
Default Refuel Cost: 1 Surtling Core (field refueled by hand).
Infinite Fuel Toggle: Set Fuel minutes to 0 for permanent maintenance-free illumination. Fuel reserves are presented cleanly in minutes inside item tooltips.
Repairable Preset: Clearing the refuel recipe converts the lantern into a repairable durable tool at its required station tier.
Runtime Sync: Crafting recipe alterations and visual parameters update live without requiring a game reboot.

Installation & Configuration:

Ensure BepInEx and Conditional Config Sync are installed.
Extract the HipLantern folder into your plugins directory:
<Valheim_Directory>\BepInEx\plugins\.
Boot the game.
Adjust visual parameters, offsets, and burn timers in-game using Configuration Manager (press F1).
