Insider: EA will fire up to fifty Apex Legends testers
Electronic Arts intends to close the UK quality control department of Apex Legends. According to anonymous employees, the reason was not work performance.
As journalist Tom Henderson said, employees were informed of the dismissal on April 11 during a Zoom conference. Moreover, managers and project leaders were not aware of such changes. The reason for the reduction was not the results of the team's work, but the restructuring of the business.
«Everything seemed to be heading to a normal renewal ready to tackle the next year of plans for Apex,» Tom Henderson quoted one employee as saying.
According to him, about 40 people will lose their positions.
The UK testing team has been working on quality control in Apex Legends since Season 16. The game recently encountered serious problems: in March, two pro players were hacked by hackers during a match, and in April, after an update, some users' progress was rolled back.
As an apology, the Respawn studio gave players eight loot boxes — they can be picked up until April 24.
