Mass Effect 5 Lead Developer Confirms Game Is Still in Pre-Production

There have been a lot of news stories about changes within BioWare recently, caused in particular by the creation of the new Mass Effect. However, the game is still in pre-production, said development lead Michael Gamble.

This is how he responded to the news of mass layoffs. Bloomberg recently reported that BioWare's staff had been cut from 200 to less than 100 employees. Some players were worried that the development of Mass Effect 5 was in jeopardy, and Michael Gamble clarified the situation:

The game was announced in 2020 at The Game Awards along with the first teaser for the game. In 2022, the project's development officially entered the early stages. Currently, a small team is working on Mass Effect 5 — some of the employees at Electronic Arts have been transferred to support other games or fired, as happened with the lead writer of Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

The release date for Mass Effect 5 is not yet known.

Earlier, players found a hint that the new trilogy of the space RPG action game will return the morality system that was in the Shepard games.
