In anticipation of new adventures in the world of Dragon's Dogma 2, many gamers are interested in how to create a new character that perfectly reflects their individuality. Customization in the game provides extensive opportunities to change the appearance of your hero, allowing you to finely adjust every detail of the face and body. The question arises: is it possible to create multiple heroes to explore the game world from different perspectives? And how will this affect the saves? In the article, we will tell you about all the nuances of creating and managing characters in the sequel to Dragon's Dogma.
How to Change Your Hero's Appearance
Creating a new hero in Dragon's Dogma 2 might seem like a complex process, but the developers have provided a way for players to refresh the appearance of their character at any point. This is particularly relevant when, after many hours of gameplay, you want to bring a sense of novelty to your protagonist. There's no need to start from the beginning — simply visit one of the barbershops (Barberie), which can be easily found on the map marked with a scissors icon. At these locations, players can fine-tune the customization of their character: hairstyle, hair color, and other appearance elements to their liking.
Additionally, there's another way to change your hero's appearance — by purchasing the Art of Metamorphosis book for 500 RC (Rift Crystals). This item allows for more extensive customization, giving the opportunity to change more significant aspects of appearance, including face shape and physique. Thus, you get complete freedom in creating and adapting your ideal hero, which adds even more variety and personal input to the gaming experience as you journey through the world of Dragon's Dogma.
How to Create a New Character (Start a New Playthrough)
In Dragon's Dogma 2, as with many modern games, game progress is closely tied to save files. If you've reached a certain point in the game and decided that you want to start all over again, you'll find that the in-game menu doesn't offer a simple option to delete existing progress or start a new game. This means that to start your journey anew, you will have to manually delete the save file within your device's system: console or PC.
On PlayStation and Xbox consoles, go to the settings and find the Saved Data section. Locate the Dragon's Dogma 2 save files, highlight them, and select Delete.
On PC, the process is similar. However, we recommend first disabling the cloud save feature in Steam, as after manually deleting the files, they will be re-downloaded to your device upon game launch. To do this:
- Open the Steam launcher;
- Right-click on the game in your PC library and select Properties;
- In the General window, toggle the slider Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for Dragon's Dogma 2;
- Now you can proceed to manually delete the files.
Next, the steps are simple. Do not close the Steam library. Right-click on Dragon's Dogma 2, select Manage — Browse local files. Return to the main Steam directory and navigate to [userdata/steamID/2054970/remote/win64_save]. Delete the win64_save folder and all its contents. Now launch the game and check for the presence of saves — most likely, you will be prompted to start a new game.
Can Multiple Characters Be Created Simultaneously in Dragon's Dogma 2?
In Dragon's Dogma 2, the save system is designed in such a way that the player is provided with only one active save file for the main character. This means that it is not possible to create and manage multiple main heroes within a single profile. The game does indeed have two save slots, but they are not intended for different characters: one slot is used for auto-saving, and the other is for manually saving progress when resting at an inn.
However, for those who play on consoles and wish to explore the game world from different perspectives, there is an option to create additional profiles on the console. Each profile will allow you to start the game anew, which can be particularly useful given the absence of a multiplayer mode in Dragon's Dogma 2. This solution will enable you to experience the adventure from the beginning without losing the progress of an already existing character.
