What Pawn Classes Exist
There are a total of 6 classes, each with its unique behavior and combat style, which should be chosen according to your preferences.
- Fighter — a warrior armed with a one-handed weapon and shield. Can serve as either a tank with a large health pool or a damage dealer;
- Mage — a caster who supports the team from a distance. Has a variety of spells that will be useful in any composition;
- Archer — a pawn that attacks from a distance;
- Rogue — a fighter that deals high damage but has almost no defensive stats;
- Warrior — an advanced version of the fighter, wielding two-handed weapons;
- Sorcerer — an improved mage, with an even larger arsenal of spells.
Specialization and Pawn Traits
Specialization is a special parameter that grants a companion a new behavioral trait. There is no universal specialization, and most will either cause problems or let you down at the most critical moment. Therefore, this is one of the important points to consider when choosing a new pawn.
To unlock a specialization, you need to interact with the pawn and demonstrate your attitude towards others through dialogues and actions. Over time, the companion will develop a new trait that will influence their behavior in combat and dialogues.
To change a pawn's character, you will need an item called Mysterious Rift Incense. This rare resource can be found in the world of Dragon's Dogma 2 or can be purchased with real currency.
Best Trait for a Fighter
The task of fighters is to lead the charge and deal massive damage in close combat. Directness will reveal this warrior, although it may reduce the accuracy of strikes. Such a pawn will be a reliable partner for players who like to fight on the front lines.
If you prefer a safer class, such as an archer or mage, we recommend taking a kind-hearted fighter into your team. Unlike the first option, he focuses on protecting allies and won't leave you alone.
Best Trait for a Mage
Choose the best trait depending on what's missing on the battlefield:
- Directness or Imperturbability — an aggressive wizard who creates fireballs and doesn't wait for allies. Rarely heals, even if ordered;
- Kind-heartedness — a mage specializing in support. Always ready to retreat and heal allies;
- Straightforwardness — a balanced option suitable for beginners. Such a mage skillfully balances between healing spells and dealing damage.
The Best Trait for an Archer
Not the most durable class, which needs to avoid extra damage. An archer with traits of Imperturbability or Kind-heartedness will often expose themselves to attacks. The best option is Straightforwardness, which helps to soberly assess the situation, deal significant damage from a distance, and retreat when necessary.
The Best Trait for a Thief
The Thief is a fragile close-combat character, so Straightforwardness is essential for them first and foremost. Directness and Kind-heartedness make the pawn useless in battle, not recommended for such thieves. They will be the first to go into battle and, most likely, die without waiting for allies.
The Best Trait for a Warrior
Each trait will have its disadvantage, which will only reduce the warrior's combat potential. An Imperturbable character is optimal for this class. You won't see anything outstanding, but such a fighter is predictable, which simplifies strategy on the battlefield.
The Best Trait for a Sorcerer
The main task of sorcerers is to deal constant damage. Choosing a Kind-hearted pawn might risk losing the battle, as they will get distracted by the surroundings. A sorcerer fully unfolds with the trait of Imperturbability, allowing for critical damage dealing.
The Strongest Teams for Your Specialization
Having several classes is designed so you can build a balanced team, regardless of your main hero. Depending on your preferences, you can select suitable pawns:
- Fighter — in close combat, enemies have little chance against you, so you should consider support. Archer, Mage , and Sorcerer together will create a strong and balanced team, where the key role will be played by the player;
- Mage — with such a character, the best combination is Warrior, Fighter , and Sorcerer. One of the close-combat fighters will act as a tank, and the other will destroy individual targets. The Sorcerer will enhance them, and you just need to ensure a successful battle and cover allies;
- Archer — the logic is the same as with the mage. Warrior, Fighter , and Mage will perfectly complement your character, covering the weaknesses of the archer;
- Thief — you can deal massive damage only if the pawns distract attention. Warrior and Fighter will handle this, while a kind-hearted Mage will focus on healing, opening the way for you to deal tremendous damage.
