Resin in Genshin Impact: how to quickly extract Original, Fragile, and Condensed Resin

Original Resin is one of the most important resources in Genshin Impact. It allows you to receive rewards from Ley Line Outcrops and Abyssal Domains, as well as for defeating bosses and completing some event challenges. In this guide, we'll show you how to quickly replenish your resin stock in the game.

Why You Need Original Resin in Genshin Impact

As we've already noted, resin is necessary for obtaining various rewards. Without using Primogems, a player can have up to 160 units of this resource at a time.

Resin automatically regenerates at a rate of 1 unit every 8 minutes. Keeping track of its amount is especially important for those who spend a lot of time in the game and repeatedly defeat the same bosses for valuable rewards. The expenditure is as follows:

  • Opening a Ley Line Outcrop — 20 units;
  • Interacting with a Petrified Tree in a Domain — 20 units;
  • Receiving a reward for defeating a regular boss — 40 units;
  • Receiving a reward for defeating a weekly boss — from 30 to 60 units.

In addition to rewards, you will also receive Adventure EXP at a ratio of 1 to 5 for using Original Resin.

Theoretically, you can complete challenges without resin. But in this case, you will miss out on the reward. Fortunately, the game offers ways to obtain additional resin.

How to Get More Resin in Genshin Impact

There are three ways:

  • Using Fragile or Transient Resin. For 1 piece, you will receive 60 units of Original Resin. You can have up to 20 units of Fragile Resin in your inventory. We will discuss this resource further below.
  • Using Primogems. The exchange rate varies depending on how much resin you want to obtain. In this case, the maximum available amount of this resource will increase from 160 to 2000 units.
  • Using Condensed Resin. It allows you to receive rewards from Ley Line Outcrops and Petrified Trees in Domains without spending Original Resin. Note that Condensed Resin cannot be used to receive rewards for defeating bosses. A player can have up to 5 units of this resource.

Use Condensed and Fragile Resin when you have less than 100 units of Original Resin.

How to obtain Fragile Resin:

  • Use A Cake for Traveler, which is given to the Traveler on their Birthday. You set this date yourself. You will receive 1 unit of Fragile Resin.
  • Reward for achieving certain Adventure Ranks, from 1 to 2 units per Rank.
  • Reward from the Wanderer's Battle Pass, Gnostic Hymn, and Gnostic Chorus. If you purchase one of these sets, you will receive 5 units of Fragile Resin as a bonus.
  • Reward from the Wayfarer's Supply Bundle. If you buy it with Genesis Crystals, you will be given 1 unit of Fragile Resin.

In the game, there's also Transient Resin. It's similar to Fragile Resin, but its validity is limited to seven days from the moment you acquire it. If the item is not used, it simply disappears. Transient Resin can be purchased in the Treasury, from Tubby. For this, you will need the Serenitea Pot.

Using Fragile or Transient Resin is the best way to replenish your stock of this resource when in urgent need. To create Condensed Resin, you'll have to spend Original Resin, and it's better to save Primogems for other purposes.

Where Else Original Resin Can Be Used in Genshin Impact

Resin is used to craft the following resources:

  • Mystic Enhancement Ore. This is a material for weapon enhancement. To make it, you'll need 10 units of Original Resin, 3 Magical Crystal Chunks, and 100 Mora. You'll receive the recipe for this ore when you reach Adventure Rank 30.
  • Condensed Resin. We've already explained how it works above. To craft this resource, you'll need 40 units of Original Resin, 1 Crystal Core, and 100 Mora. To unlock the recipe for Condensed Resin, you need to reach Reputation Level 3 in Liyue.

Magical Crystal Chunks can be found in the open world of the game. We've marked the locations on the map where they can be searched for.

Crystal Cores drop from crystal flies. Their habitats are marked on the map.
