What Are Zhongli's Active Abilities

Zhongli is a Geo character who relies on polearms in combat. When his attacks are combined with other elements (Pyro, Cryo, Electro, and Hydro), a Crystallize effect occurs. This effect generates crystals on the battlefield which, in turn, activate shields and increase resistance to the corresponding element. Zhongli can be used both as a main DPS character and as a support character.

  • Stone Rain (Basic Attack). Zhongli performs up to four piercing strikes on enemies. The charged version of this attack causes a rain of spears, consuming stamina. A plunging attack deals AoE damage.
  • Dominance of Earth (Elemental Skill, quick press). A short press summons a Stone Stele, dealing Geo AoE damage upon creation, and can shield from enemy attacks. If there are other Geo constructs on the battlefield, resonance occurs, dealing Geo damage to enemies. Initially, Zhongli can summon only one Stone Stele.
  • Dominance of Earth (Elemental Skill, long press). A long press, in addition to the stele, summons a Jade Shield. It absorbs elemental and physical damage 150% more effectively and reduces resistance to your attacks by 20% within a small radius.
  • Starfall (Elemental Burst). Zhongli summons a meteor that deals Geo AoE damage and petrifies enemies, rendering them unable to move.

What Are Zhongli's Passive Skills

  • Stone's Will. Shields on the character under the effect of the Jade Shield are strengthened by 5%. This effect can stack up to 5 times.
  • Dominance of Winter. The effectiveness of normal, charged attacks, and plunging attacks is increased by 1.39% of Zhongli's max HP. Damage from the Stone Stele increases by 1.9% of the hero's health scale. Starfall deals 33% more damage based on the character's maximum HP.
  • Resonant Waves. Upon crafting polearms, 15% of the ores used are refunded to the player.

Zhongli's Constellations

A new constellation unlocks when you obtain Fate for Zhongli by acquiring the character again during wishes. We have described all the constellation bonuses for the character below:

  1. Rock, the Backbone of Earth. Allows you to create two Stone Steles at once with the Elemental Skill.
  2. Jade, Shimmering through Darkness. Starfall grants a Jade Shield to all allies.
  3. Jade, Splendor of the Dawn. Increases the level of the Elemental Skill by 3, up to a maximum of 15.
  4. Topaz, Unbreakable and Fearless. Increases the area of effect of the meteorite by 20% and petrification duration by 2 seconds when using Elemental Burst.
  5. Lazuli, Herald of the Order. Increases the level of Elemental Burst by 3, up to a maximum of 15.
  6. Chrysos, Bounty of Dominator. When the Jade Shield takes damage, 40% of that damage is converted to HP for the current character. Only up to 8% of the character's maximum HP can be restored in this way at any one time.

The Best Weapon and Artifact Build for Zhongli

Weapon

Crescent Pike. This four-star polearm is suitable for those who use Zhongli as their main damage dealer. It has a base attack of 44-565 and a physical damage bonus of 7.5-34.5%. Additionally, for 5 seconds after picking up an elemental orb or particle, normal and charged attacks deal 20-40% increased damage. This weapon pairs well with artifacts from the Bloodstained Chivalry and Gladiator's Finale sets.

To craft the Crescent Pike, you will need:

  • Northlander Polearm Prototype (1);
  • Crystal Chunk (50);
  • White Iron Chunk (50);
  • Mora (500).

Crystal Chunks can be found in the open world of the game. Refer to our map for guidance.

The location of White Iron Chunks is indicated on the map.

The Northlander Polearm Prototype can be purchased in the Liyue Souvenir Shop, obtained during the initial floors of the Spiral Abyss, as a reward for reaching level 8 of the Frostbearing Tree, and level 24 of the Sacred Sakura.

Staff of Homa. An alternative option to increase Zhongli's attack and health. This polearm has a base attack of 46-608 and a critical damage of 14.4-66.2%. Additionally, the hero's health will increase by 20-40%, and the attack will increase by 0.8-1.6% of the character's maximum HP. If health drops below 50%, the damage dealt by Zhongli will increase by an additional 1-1.8%. This weapon can be obtained through the Invocation of the Divine prayer.

Favonius Lance. This four-star polearm is an optimal choice for those using Zhongli as a support character. Its base attack is 44-565, and it has an energy recharge bonus of 6.7-30.6%. Critical hits have a 60-100% chance to generate an elemental orb, which regenerates 6 energy for the character. This effect can occur once every 12-6 seconds. This weapon can be obtained through wishes.

Artifacts

Bloodstained Chivalry. A great choice for Zhongli if he serves as the main DPS character in your team. Two pieces from this set increase physical damage by 25%. Four pieces should be collected by those who rely on charged attacks. They increase its damage by 50% after defeating an enemy and allow not to spend stamina on it for 10 seconds. These artifacts can be obtained in the Clear Pool and Mountain Cavern domain. Its location is indicated on the map.

Gladiator's Finale. If you do not use Zhongli's charged attacks, this set of artifacts might be worth considering. Two pieces increase attack by 18%, and four pieces increase the damage of normal attacks by 35%. It's optimal to limit yourself to two pieces and take another two from Bloodstained Chivalry. Items from the Gladiator's Finale set can be obtained by defeating the Stormterror, Wolf of the North, Ancient Geovishap, Oceanid, Pyro Regisvine, Childe, as well as Geo, Anemo, and Electro Hypostases.

Noblesse Oblige. The optimal choice for those who use Zhongli as a support character. Two pieces from this set increase elemental burst damage by 20%. If you have four artifacts, the call of the comet increases the attack power by 20% for all allies in the team. The effect lasts for 12 seconds and does not stack from repeated use of elemental burst. This set can be obtained in the Clear Pool and Mountain Cavern domain.

Tenacity of the Millelith. Another good option for Zhongli as a support character. Two pieces from this set increase maximum health by 20%. If you collect four items from this set, when hitting enemies with an elemental skill, the attack of all nearby allies increases by 20%, and their shield strength by 30%. The effect lasts for 3 seconds and occurs even if Zhongli is not on the field. Artifacts from this set can be found in the Mountain Shaper domain.

Pros and Cons of Zhongli

Advantages:

  • Ability to use the character both for dealing main damage and as a support hero;
  • Large Geo damage to an area due to elemental burst;
  • Ability to immobilize opponents through petrification;
  • Excellent and sturdy shield that reduces elemental resistance of opponents;
  • After unlocking the sixth constellation, Zhongli can heal without being a pure healer.

  • Normal attacks deal low damage;
  • Constant Geo damage from the pillar can interfere with elemental reactions;
  • The third passive skill is useless in combat.

How to Play Zhongli. Which Heroes Best Complement Him in a Team

Teams with Zhongli as the Main DPS

If you've chosen Zhongli as your main DPS character, use his elemental burst and skill. Then, it's advisable to enhance his abilities with a support hero's skills. After that, switch back to Zhongli and hit enemies with charged attacks. Heal as needed.

If your team includes a second character capable of summoning a Geo construct, you can achieve Geo resonance, which deals massive damage to enemies. For this, two Geo constructs must be present on the battlefield.

Team with three Geo characters:

  • Main DPS Hero: Zhongli;
  • Geo character for creating Geo constructs: Arataki Itto, Albedo, Ningguang, Traveler (Geo);
  • Geo support character: Gorou;
  • Healer: Xingqiu, Shinobu, Bennett, Jean, Qiqi, or Barbara.

In this team, Gorou's elemental skill provides a bonus to elemental damage specifically with three Geo characters. If you don't have him, use a Pyro or Cryo character.

Team with a Cryo character:

  • Main DPS Hero: Zhongli;
  • Geo character for creating Geo constructs: Ningguang, Albedo, Arataki Itto, Traveler (Geo);
  • Cryo character for dealing additional damage: Eula, Ganyu, Aloy or Kamisato Ayaka;
  • Healer: Jean, Xingqiu, Qiqi, Shinobu, Barbara, or Bennett.

Team with a Pyro character:

  • Main DPS Hero: Zhongli;
  • Geo character for creating Geo constructs: Albedo, Ningguang, Arataki Itto, Traveler (Geo);
  • Pyro character for dealing additional damage: Diluc, Klee, Hu Tao, or Yanfei;
  • Healer: Bennett, Jean, Qiqi, Xingqiu, Barbara, or Shinobu.

Teams with Zhongli as a support hero

In this case, your task is to apply the Jade Shield to the main DPS character and summon the meteor. Then switch to the main hero. If necessary, enhance their attacks and heal in time.

Team focusing on Anemo damage:

  • Main DPS Anemo Hero: Xiao;
  • Geo character for creating shields: Zhongli;
  • Pyro character for dealing additional damage: Amber or Xiangling;
  • Healer: Shinobu, Bennett, Jean, Xingqiu, Barbara, or Qiqi.

Team focused on Cryo damage:

  • Main DPS Cryo Hero: Ganyu, Ayaka, or Eula;
  • Geo character for creating shields: Zhongli;
  • Anemo character to enhance elemental damage: Kazuha, Venti, Sucrose, or Sayu;
  • Healer: Qiqi, Bennett, Jean, Barbara, Shinobu, or Xingqiu.

Team focused on Pyro damage:

  • Main DPS Pyro Hero: Yoimiya, Diluc, Klee, or Yanfei;
  • Geo character for creating shields: Zhongli;
  • Electro character for elemental reactions and additional damage: Beidou, Lisa, Sara, or Razor;
  • Healer: Bennett, Jean, Qiqi, Shinobu, Xingqiu, or Barbara.
