Sanctuary of the Guardians in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: How to Complete and Get the Lighter

Sanctuary of the Guardians is the first additional quest in the Giza region in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. When you meet the new scientist, Gina will suggest you explore the nearby catacombs. Don't skip the quest, as it will not only earn you adventure points but also guide you on where to find the lighter — a key item for solving puzzles in the game. In this guide, we will detail how to complete this mission.

To do this, you just need to reach Giza through the storyline and meet Naval in the light blue tent in the market square. After doing so, watch the lengthy cutscene, and then speak to Gina, who is eavesdropping on Nazi radio conversations. If you don't do this, the quest won't appear in the task journal.

After the dialogue with Gina, a marker will appear on the map. It will lead you directly to the base of the Sphinx statue, where German soldiers will also be waiting. Getting rid of them is not difficult — you just need to use improvised items.

Once you reach the marked spot on the map, descend to the excavation site, pick up the note, and listen to Gina. She will ask you to retrieve a golden medallion located in the Nazi field camp.

Head to the central part of the map, to the marked area. On the way, you can stop by the meteorological station and solve a small puzzle to open a locked box. The code for the box is 0609.

However, this is not our main goal. Continue through another Nazi camp. In one of them, right between your target and the meteorological station, you can find the skill book Slugger I. Be careful, as there are quite a few soldiers in this area. But we prefer to get rid of them. In this same camp, you can find a medicine bottle and some money.

On the table in one of the officer tents lies the golden medallion required for the quest. If you open the nearby desk drawer, you will obtain the playing Jack card.

Return to Gina and open the door using the medallion you obtained. However, it will be too dark in the catacombs, so you'll need to go in search of a lighter. More precisely, you need to purchase it in a small nearby settlement.

Another marker will appear on the map. Follow it and simultaneously explore the settlement. There are plenty of opportunities to take photographs here, which will earn Indiana adventure points. Additionally, in one of the houses, you can find the skill book Patch Up. When you're ready, talk to the merchant and buy a regular lighter for just 75 lira. To the left of this merchant's tent, on a bench, you will find the playing card The Hanged Man.

If you explore the northern part of the residential area, you will find Naval's spy. His monologue will grant access to a simple puzzle Seat of Eternity.

Returning to Gina, use the lighter on the oil bowl and interact with the lever. During the cutscene, the girl will help avoid death, but now you'll need to find the entrance to the sanctuary. The only way is to use the whip and climb into the narrow space between the slabs where the stone slab moved. Once you crawl forward, you will find a chain, which Indy will use to lift the grate below.

This will lead you to a large hall with mirrors reflecting sunlight. The puzzle solution will be based on this. Move the reflective bowls at the throne crosswise so that the sunlight falls on the mirrors opposite. Then, by the same principle, direct the sunbeams to the bowls at the base of the throne.

Pick up the golden mask and watch the cutscene where Gina sits on the throne, and then a massive stone slab with the characters falls several levels down.

In the next segment, new enemies will appear — scorpions. They are not dangerous if you don't approach them. However, to escape, you'll need to navigate through these creatures. Follow Gina and open the door using the only chain available, then take the torch near the skeleton. Your companion will find a fragile wall, but you currently have nothing to break it with. Look in the opposite corner of the room and find a lever, activating which will open another door.

Behind this door, there will be a two-handed weapon — use it to break the partially destroyed wall. Since scorpions will be in your way, we recommend taking the weapon and throwing it closer to where Gina stands, then dispersing the arthropods with the torch.

In the next room, you'll encounter another light puzzle. Interact with the bowl and direct it at the door on the right. This door will immediately break, so perform the same actions with the door opposite and wait for Gina to offer her help.

Boost the lady up and wait for her to hand you the mirror. Place it in the room on the left and direct it towards the pedestal in the center. After that, Gina will take the second mirror — direct the light source in the main room onto it.

Move along the only path until you find yourself near a cliff, where unfortunately, scorpions are crawling. The girl will offer help again: boost her up to the mirror, and climb onto the ledge opposite.

This way you will reach the Stella of the Guardian. Take the artifact and leave the excavation site to complete the mission.

As we mentioned, for completing the quest, you will receive not only 400 adventure points but also a lighter — a key item for progressing through the storyline missions and puzzles in Giza. Additionally, the found stella can be used for the main quest The Idol of Ra if you don't want to spend time exploring the entire location.
