How to Effectively Use Companions in Assassin's Creed Shadows

During the playthrough of Assassin's Creed Shadows, you will encounter characters who can become your allies. Each of them has unique abilities and roles in the ongoing events. In this guide, we will talk about all the companions in the game.
How the Ally System Works in Assassin's Creed Shadows
Your allies are divided into two types: civilians and fighters. The former perform various tasks at the base, while the latter can cover your back during battles. Initially, only one companion will accompany you, but after upgrading the dojo to level 2, you can storm the next castle with three people.
Note: Allies can and should be upgraded. Otherwise, they will be useless against strong opponents in the later stages of the game.
Tomiko
- How to recruit: complete the mission "Unpayable Debt".
This girl helps the main heroine Naoe at the very beginning of the storyline mode in Assassin's Creed Shadows.
Heiji
- How to recruit: complete the task "Path of the Blacksmith".
The guy will work in your forge. With his help, you can upgrade equipment to a legendary level.
Junjiro
- How to recruit: complete the quest "From Spark to Flame".
A monk who supports the shinobi league in your hideout. Besides, he teaches Naoe the art of drawing known as sumi-e.
Yae
- How to recruit: complete the missions "Stray Dogs" and "Heads Will Roll".
Unlike Junjiro, monk Yae is ready to fight alongside you. He can throw enemies into the air, toss them aside, and knock them down right after the start of the fight. This is convenient during battles with crowds of enemies.
Katsuhime
- How to recruit: complete the quests "The Book of Zenin" and "Requiem for Rokkaku".
A shinobi who focuses on stunning. She starts the battle with a flashbang throw, and bullets hitting a disoriented enemy will ricochet. Her skills will be useful in any case, but they will be especially effective if you also try to stun enemies during combat.
Gennojo
- How to recruit: complete the missions "Godless Harvest" and "Lost Honor".
This guy is the optimal choice as a partner for those who prefer to complete missions silently. He can distract opponents who are ready to detect you, and if you commit an offense, it won't be reported. If necessary, like Katsuhime, he can throw stun bombs. This way, you can easily get rid of an enemy or calmly escape.
