Assassin's Creed Shadows: How to Locate and Defeat All Kabukimono

During the tumultuous Sengoku period, many samurai who lost their lords became kabukimono — ruthless bandits. In Assassin's Creed Shadows, players must undertake a dangerous contract to eliminate one such gang. Our guide will help you track and eliminate all the ronin.

How to Start the "Kabukimono" Quest

The assignment from the residents of Settsu to eliminate the ronin becomes available at the beginning of the game, but we recommend starting it no earlier than level 25. The quest finale takes place in a high-level region where enemies can kill with a single blow. To start the quest, you need to find a man named Shinnyo at the entrance to the Nishinomiya Shrine, located at the Nakakami Peak on the western coast of Izumi-Settsu.

After talking with the priest, the mission to eliminate the samurai gang is activated. You will now need to eliminate eight targets: five ronin of levels 10-15 in Izumi-Settsu and three more dangerous opponents of levels 20-25 in Harima.

Shinnyo

Big Sueki

The bandit and his henchmen can be found in Izumi-Settsu near Amagasaki Castle in the postal town of Muko. They are located in the backyard of a large white house in the center of the settlement. The gang consists of six swordsmen. The best way to eliminate the ronin is to circle the building from the left side. Then sneak into the bushes and attack the samurai from behind. After the kill, you can simply escape or take down the others.

Reward:

  • Mastery Points: 2.
  • Experience: 2,000.
  • Unusual Katana: Tactless Negotiations.
  • Effect: +25% bleeding damage to weakened enemies.
  • Engraving: Weakening damage.
  • Mon: 260.

Chief Cuckoo

In Izumi-Settsu, near Katano Castle, at the "Katano Oil Trade" location, you can encounter bandits. There are eight opponents in the yard: three swordsmen, two archers, an elite warrior, a spearman, and the leader. The ronin patrols the camp, so the best way to eliminate him is to attack from the air. You can then escape or deal with the others to loot the base. The camp contains five chests and a cache for spies.

Reward:

  • Mastery Points: 2.
  • Experience: 2,000.
  • Unusual Naginata: Dancing Naginata.
  • Effect: +20% damage to armor.
  • Engraving: Damage after dodge.
  • Mon: 245.

Ember

In the southwest of Osaka, in the Izumi-Settsu region, near the temple, there is a kabukimono camp. The base has two swordsmen, a spearman, and a boss. In the center by the fire, there are explosive pots. It's best to sneak through the bushes, climb the nearest house, and wait for the leader to come as close to the pots as possible. Then you can throw a kunai at any vessel, causing an explosion, after which you can finish off the survivors and collect resources for the hideout.

Reward:

  • Mastery Points: 2.
  • Experience: 2,000.
  • Unusual Teppo: Sparkling Ember.
  • Effect: +9% teppo reload speed when at full health.
  • Engraving: Armor penetration for a series of hits.
  • Mon: 385.

Grave Dancer

At the Sumiyoshi Shrine southeast of Osaka city in the Izumi-Settsu region, there is one of the bandits. The bandit roams the temple grounds with his henchman. Therefore, it's best to kill him from above.

Reward:

  • Mastery Points: 2.
  • Experience: 2,000.
  • Unusual Katana: Widower's Consolation.
  • Effect: +6% critical damage from a series of hits.
  • Engraving: Accumulation for a series of kills.
  • Mon: 240.

Ghost General

The ronin can be found at the dock in Saki Port in Izumi-Settsu. The bandit sometimes moves away from his companion, thus providing an opportunity to eliminate him stealthily, for example, from behind.

Reward:

  • Mastery Points: 2.
  • Experience: 2,000.
  • Unusual Katana: Kabukimono's Greed.
  • Effect: +20% damage for a series of kills.
  • Engraving: Adrenaline when hitting multiple enemies.
  • Mon: 290.

How to Eliminate the Other Samurai?

Bandits can be eliminated in any order, and this can even be done before talking to Shinnyo. After killing the last ronin, you will receive a note "Message to all Kabukimono". With it, you need to go to the Nishinomiya Shrine and study the plaque at the entrance. Then the player will have to choose: to eliminate the remaining bandits all at once or separately. Both options will be discussed in detail below.

How to Take Down Kabukimono Separately?

If the decision is made to take down the ronins separately, it should be noted that this will be a rather lengthy process since the samurai are scattered throughout Harima. However, this is the easiest way to eliminate them at a low character development level.

Laughing Man

The bandit can be found in the north of Harima, at Mount Kasagata in the Black Waterfall location. The nearest vantage point is Mount Sen. The best way to eliminate the ronin is to climb the massive tree on the opposite bank from his camp and strike from the air.

Reward:

  • Mastery Points: 2.
  • Experience: 2,000.
  • Legendary Trinket: Ubagabi's Flight.
  • Effect: Adrenaline generation +1% for each mastery point on the kusarigama path.
  • Engraving: Adrenaline generation for kusarigama mastery.
  • Mon: 310.

Corrupt Blade

The bandit can be found in Harima, in the burnt fields of Kanki, northwest of the Takagi-Otsuka Fortress, where the "Mount Haba" vantage point is located. The camp has three swordsmen and a leader. The samurai walks with one henchman, the others stand on guard. It's best to try to eliminate them stealthily, and then from the bushes or an elevation, kill the leader to get to the chests.

Reward:

  • Mastery Points: 2.
  • Experience: 2,000.
  • Rare Okatana: Kabuki Defiler.
  • Effect: +48% armor penetration with finishing combo strikes.
  • Engraving: Provisions upon search.
  • Mon: 230.

Peacock

The samurai can be found on the road between Mount Kasagata and the Tonamine Kogen swamps, which runs along the northern border of the Harima and Tamba regions. The ronin walks accompanied by a spearman: they can easily be caught off guard with a stealth attack from the bushes or from behind.

Reward:

  • Mastery Points: 2.
  • Experience: 2,000.
  • Rare Bow: Sleight of Hand.
  • Effect: +5% critical hit chance when hitting weakened enemies.
  • Engraving: Accumulation from back hits.
  • Mon: 235.

How to Eliminate Kabukimono at Once?

Head to the Harima region to the Takagi-Otsuka Fortress. Find the enclosed yard with a couple of houses southeast of the castle. The camp contains three kabukimono and two swordsmen. The easiest way in this situation is to eliminate one leader from above, then sneak to the pot and, when the others approach, blow it up. This will make it easier to finish off the survivors.

Return to Shinnyo

After destroying all the kabukimono, return to the Nishinomiya Shrine to the priest. Tell him that you managed to get rid of the bandits and receive five thousand experience points as a reward.
