Assassin's Creed Shadows: The Onryo Samurai Walkthrough

The Onryo Samurai is the fourth story mission in Assassin's Creed Shadows, upon completion of which you will close the prologue and move on to the full first act. If you encounter difficulties, we have prepared this guide with a detailed description of the quest and answers to possible questions.

From the entrance to the house, head west along the path. The road will turn north, then west again. Follow the stream and pass through the rock passage to the lake. Cross the lake and move to the right.

The path is long, so call your horse. At the first fork, choose the left path. At the next one, go right, following along the cliffs. Ignore another branch and continue straight. This will lead you to the tower.

Approach the tower from the right and use the bridge to reach it. Quickly jump over the broken part of the bridge, otherwise, a guard will spot you. Once across, use the grappling hook to climb to the top of the tower.

From the tower, survey the surroundings and mark the enemies. The box is located in the center of Katano Castle, in an unfinished building. Jump down, performing a Leap of Faith into the haystack.

When you emerge from the hay, crouch and then kill the archer right in front of you. Kill the next enemy near the logs. Replenish your tool supplies (there are kunai). Use them to silently kill the enemy. Carefully approach the unfinished building — it's guarded by a shinobi. Inside is a box, but it's not the one you need. Still, search for it.

Next, exit from the north and climb the scaffolding. Use the tree to transition to the next building. Mark the enemies and perform an aerial assassination on the nearest guard. Crawl through the hole in the wall, using grass for cover. Enter the building using Eagle Vision to see important objects. Find another box, but it is also not the one.

Reach the high ground and observe the Onryo Samurai. Move south to the building in front of you to locate the Onryo Samurai.

Use the grappling hook to fly over the tree. Perform a jump assassination when prompted. Now you have the box you need.

After the assassination, samurais will spot you. You have two options: fight them or escape — climb the outer walls of the castle, jump into the moat, and run until a cutscene triggers.

After this, Naoe will reach Nagato, triggering another cutscene. This scene will complete the prologue, after which the first act will begin.
