An Exceptional Game: Metaphor: ReFantazio Crowned GameSpot's Best of 2024

The GameSpot editorial team has named Metaphor: ReFantazio the best game of 2024. According to the journalists, Atlus has delivered one of its most "human" games, blending a profound story with gripping twists, challenging themes, well-developed characters, and a remarkable artistic style.
Regardless of when Metaphor: ReFantazio was released, it would remain an exceptional title. But in the year 2024--a year marred by political unrest, growing inequality, fear, distrust, misinformation, and division--no game feels quite as apt and essential. While not every work of fiction can change the world, or instill within it a goodness that has seemingly been stripped away, Metaphor: ReFantazio is a reminder that art can change us.
Earlier, GameSpot also revealed its list of the top ten games of 2024 without assigning specific rankings. The selection included Astro Bot, Balatro, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, Helldivers 2, Indiana Jones and The Great Circle, Lorelei and the Laser Eyes, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Silent Hill 2, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl.
